zeroh13
I'm kind of continuing my last challenge. Just simplified. Here it is: This week and next week I will be working A LOT. Nine or twelve hour shifts six days a week. Something like that. 21 high school graduations. (Last week was the six university graduations.) And then a couple more weeks till summer, my "deadline" for getting a new job. The goal of this challenge is basically, SURVIVE. I don't know how much time I have to work on job stuff, or for exercising, or going out exploring. I need to make a schedule each week, and fit what I can, where I can. And then follow it. 9 Quote Current Challenge: Zeroh, stick to the routine! Link to comment

zeroh13
I encountered a new level of stupidity at work today. One of the workers brought up a batch of pretzels in a dirty ass milk crate. In clear view of a long line of customers. Because they ran out of pans... SERIOUSLY?? Are you trying to get people sick? Yeah, nope, straight into the trash. In clear view of the customers. I'm so incredibly pissed. And the worst part? He doesn't seem to think it's a big deal. I scolded him later, almost cussed him out, and the reaction was basically, yeah, okay, whatever. Dude, if I was the boss you would have been fired on the spot. 1) that's gross. 2) you should have known better. 3) you didn't listen to any of the workers that said, yo, that's a really bad idea, don't do it. 4) this is one of the most important events that we host. 5) if we had sold those pretzels, I'd bet money that someone would have gotten sick, and OMG the fallout from that would be a disaster. 6) everything about your body language and tone says that you don't care and don't think it's a big deal. (He got the job cause his dad's one of the higher ups in the company...) Moving on... I have the day off tomorrow, so I plan to get out to the playground in the morning. I also need to buy a bus pass. And I really need to work on the job search stuff. And do budgeting stuff. And relax. 4 Quote Current Challenge: Zeroh, stick to the routine! Link to comment

zeroh13
Week 1 Summary Monday I went to the playground and tested my AMRAP. The last time I tested it was a month ago. Dead-hang: 35 sec (up 5) 50% squat pull-ups: 22 (down 3, probably just an off day) Incline push-ups (waist height?): 20 (up 2) I think I need to do more push-up work. I still can't do a single standard push-up... I can hold myself in the up position no problem. I can lower myself and hold at the down position no problem. But when I push up, my body will not budge. I went out there again yesterday. Except I ended up sleeping in... When I got out there, a little kid was playing there. So I went to another part of the park and did box jumps with some stairs. I was able to go back after the kid left. But I didn't get as much done as I wanted cause some more kids showed up. A bit sore today, nothing too bad, but I can really feel it when I move my arms. Most of the soreness is on my sides. I have done nothing towards job hunting this week. Not a good start. On the other hand, I am working a lot, and really needed to relax yesterday. I went out and got beer and a lemon meringue pie to celebrate my high score (they are so good together!). Today was actually a drama free day at work. And I came up with a good idea that ended up boosting our donut and muffin sales! We ran out of the bags we normally put them in, so I converted our candy displays into baked goods displays (plastic wrap has so many uses). Next week... My next day off isn't till next Saturday. Though I only work in the afternoon on Friday. If I'm not insanely tired, I'll try to get out to the playground super early on Tuesday. If it works I'll do the same on Thursday, and then go on Saturday at a reasonable time. If that doesn't work, I'll adjust to training on Friday, then Sunday. I won't have time to work on job stuff till next weekend. At least I'm getting overtime. I'm going to push my deadline to July 1st, and start putting a lot of work into it once graduations are over. 6 Quote Current Challenge: Zeroh, stick to the routine! Link to comment
Grandkai_NL
Oooh i like the look of the beer. A nice Belgium IPA beer. How about knee push-ups? Can you get back up if you do those? 2 Quote Current Challenge Instagram | Duolingo | TrueAchievements (Xbox) | Goodreads | Twitch (no activity as of late) Past challenges here Link to comment

There's a platform at the playground that's a foot or two off the ground, and I can do about two of those, if my feet don't start sliding, which they normally do... 1 Quote Current Challenge: Zeroh, stick to the routine! Start doing negatives, where you lower yourself down from the up position slowly to down. Also, spend some time from down trying to push into the up position. Even if you don't move, you'll still be strengthening the muscles. 3 Quote Current Challenge "By the Most-Righteous-and-Blessed Beard of Sir Tanktimus the Encourager!" - Jarl Rurik Harrgath Link to comment
Sloth the Enduring
When I came to NF I couldn't do a push-up either. Knee push-ups hurt my knees so I started on a kitchen counter, when I could do 20 I did them on the coffee table, then the floor. Negatives are good too. 2 Quote “We might as well start where we are, use what we have and do what we can." – Caitlin Rivers Sloth: The Man with the Hammer battle log Link to comment

zeroh13
I have survived three 13 hour shifts in a row! I think training tomorrow will depend on when exactly I wake up. Will I wake up at 5am again, or will I catch up on sleep until my get ready for work alarm goes off? 6 Quote Current Challenge: Zeroh, stick to the routine! Link to comment

zeroh13
Last night and this morning were rough. My wife had a health scare yesterday. I talked her into gong to an urgent care clinic instead of an ER (it wasn't an emergency per se, like if you can take a nap and wait till I get home from work, it can wait until morning!). There was only one still open that late (10pm) but everyone there was really nice. They didn't have the right equipment to run any tests. But the doctor was able to explain the situation well enough to convince her to go to her doc in the morning instead of going to the ER. (Basically all they would be able to do is refer her to a specialist, which we can just see her regular doctor for.) So we got up early, and got a walk-in appointment. Lots of waiting and trying not to fall asleep. They ran one test, but didn't find much. They did give us the referral, cause the problem has been going on long enough that it should be checked out. I got maybe four or five hours of sleep. And didn't eat anything till the afternoon. And I missed half of my work shift. So I'm pretty much a zombie (I'm at work now). Xena
Sorry you had a rough night. Sounds like your wife was pretty shaken up (?) and it's good that you were able to help her through it. By the way, did you hear anything from your phone interview? Did they give you a time frame when they thought they would contact you (if they were going to)? Hope your work shift is entertaining enough to keep you awake but not too hard or stressful! 1 Quote Xena, Level 14+ Valkyrie Ranger January 2017 December 2016 Oct/Nov 2016 Link to comment
