Workout music

Recommended Posts

Does anybody have any good workout music? I'm looking for some new songs, and I can't stand training without some kind of music going on in the background. I listen to a lot of stuff like Five Finger Death Punch and Disturbed, but I generally like anything with a good beat. What do y'all like?

If you need something to get your blood pumping:

  • "Pompeii", "Arise", "Vishnu" by E.S. Posthumous
  • Just about anything by Dragonforce but "Through the Fire and the Flames" and "Cry Thunder" in particular.
  • ZZ Top "La Grange"

On a side note Disturbed's cover of "Sound of Silence" is excellent.

In terms of albums, my personal go to is Hatebreed's Perserverance. Some very energetic tunes on there. (give "I will be heard" or "Hollow Ground" a spin after warm up before lifting heavy. Very nice, very neanderthal.)

I should mention that my running playlist is different than my weight-training or bodyweight-training playlist. My running list has some more moderate-cadence tunes since I have this tendency to change my pace to match the music without realizing it. I also find podcasts invaluable for long runs (30 minutes or more).
