So, last challenge I did ok. By week 4 though I was having difficulties. I've been crazy stressed by school. It's to the point that I"m looking for an online tutor to help me. I've never had a class THIS hard before. So, I began to stress eat. 

 

Starting today though, I'm calling on the Winchesters to help me fight my demons!!!!

So, with Sam and Dean at my side, I can totally kick this challenge's ass and get back on track!!!!!

Demon #1: Ruby (HP: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO)

As Ruby fed Sam's addiction to demon blood, so has she fed my addiction to sugar and high calorie foods. 

 

With Sam and Dean's help, I will vanquish Ruby back to hell by limiting my sugar intake to 2 sugary snacks per week.

Demon #2: Alastair (HP: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO)

Alistair... the demon who tortured Dean and taught him the tools of the trade in hell. To withstand his torturous blades and then kick his ass with the Winchesters, I will need to be strong and resilient. Every time I go to the gym and work out is an attack on Alistair. I will go to the gym and work out at least 2 times every week. Anything above that is a bonus attack on Alistair.

Crowley, the King of the Crossroads and the King of Hell himself. His power is the power of temptation and deals. He makes his deals so tempting by trying to make us give in to our desires. I refuse. I will not let him get the best of me. I will resist having a variance in my diet more than twice a week. I can't let the bastard win! 

 

Join me in this demon hunt! We will get there! With the Winchesters at my side and my NF friends cheering me on, we can make this happen!

Nice theme!   I hadn't seen Supernatural either until someone else had a themed challenge and I was told I needed to see it.  I'm still on the 1st or 2nd season and it's been awile but it's on my watchlist!

Week 0: Monday, June 26, 2017

 

On with the hunt! Starting strong! Monday was pretty good. I will say that so far my biggest hurdle is my school work. This class is KILLING ME with stress. It's the hardest class I've taken so far. This week is my midterm and I"m terrified. My last quiz I completely bombed because the online site was doing maintenance when I needed to finish the quiz. I'm not sure yet if the professor is going to give us an extension. She hasn't said anything yet. 

 

So, that's going to weaken my ability to withstand the temptations of my demons this week, but I WILL PREVAIL!!!

 

Demon #1: Ruby (HP: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO)

 

Ruby so far has been my weak spot and she continues to tempt me. Last night I had cookies that were leftover from game night.

However, today, I have set myself up for success! I took all the leftover cookies and brought them to work and put them out on the break room table. That will make short work of them and get them out of sight and out of mind. I banish thee cookies!!!!

Monday is not a training day, so I didn't end up going to the gym. However, I also did not do any damage to this evil demon. I am filled with determination!!!!!! I am going to the gym today after work. I will defeat Alastair!

My food was all home cooked.

 

Breakfast: eggs, bacon, and grapes 

Lunch: Turkey sandwich, an apple, and a babybel cheese

Dinner: Shrimp Burrito Bowl

Snacks: Almonds, boiled eggs, babybel cheese, popcorn, and a cookie (oops).

Week 0-1: Tuesday, June 27, 2017

 

KILLED IT!!!! I met all of my goals on Tuesday! Woot! So jazzed!

Demon #1: Ruby (HP: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOX)

 

So, Ruby tried to tempt me again with the leftover cookies from game night. I said "fuck you, Ruby!" and brought the leftover cookies to work and put them in the break room. They were gone in about an hour. Now they're out of my house and I officially have NO sugary snacks in my house. The closest I have is fruit. Total win!!!!!!!

 

Sweets: 1/2 Success!!!!

 

 

Demon #2: Alastair (HP: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOX)

Tuesday gym day!!!! 

 

Good lord, I can't tell you how badly I needed to go to the gym. I got in there and the weights were hard. About halfway in I started feeling sick and dizzy (I forgot how it feels when you haven't been in a while). I was determined though. I took longer rest times between sets and not only finished my weight lifting work out, but I also did cardio on the Elliptical for 30 minutes! I'm feeling awesome today. I've missed it!

Demon #3: Crowley (HP: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOXX)

 

My food was all home cooked again. Didn't go out for anything. All food was tasty and healthy! I'm hoping to get into even healthier stuff as things continue. I definitely need to up my vegetable intake, but that can wait until I get used to not going out to eat all the time. So, still at 0 variances!!!!

CALLING ALL NF PEEPS! I have a question for you. I need help and suggestions. 

 

I'm finally deciding that I'm not happy with the routine that my trainer has me on. I don't feel like I'm getting results that I want and I feel like I'm doing a LOT of work for not much gain. I want to mix things up and try something else. Mainly, I want to start trying some free weight stuff. 

 

So, I would like suggestions on work out routines. While I've been doing stuff since last October, I still kinda consider myself a beginner as I'm still learning form and all that jazz. I'd like suggestions from both rangers and warriors if possible. I'm looking at you warriors: @RedStone, @Laghail, @Taddea Zhaan, @raptron and anyone else that wants to chime in! Including my ranger friends @Fonzico, @LadyShello, @Maigahane, @honeybadger, @Tova the Vibrant, @Br0din (Welcome to the team), @Starpuck, and... well... there's really too many of you supportive awesome people to list all of you. You get the picture.

What do you guys think about this as a starting routine? My goals are to lose weight right now and also gain strength. I'm not looking for hardcore muscle gainz, but I want to see progress and work towards getting more muscle and thus better metabolism (I think). I also want to be able to lift things more easily. lol. 

 

Any suggestions are encouraged. I'm wanting to stay away from the machines and start looking into doing some compound lifts instead. I really appreciate it, guys.

How will you tell when you become an intermediate level lifter and no longer a beginner?  

 

Find a proven lifting program and stick to it.  (starting strength, strong lifts, new rules for lifting for women, etc)  That program looks like it could be a proven program.

 

Remember that a trainer is there to teach you, but most I've seen don't really push you.  You need to push yourself.  Be driven.. do more...  want it!

I think this looks very doable - the only thing I will caution you on is your form for the deadlift and the power clean. I recommend you enlist the help of your trainer (provided he's capable) to ensure you're performing the exercises correctly. You should practice these two in front of a mirror without added weight on the bar at first; once you feel you've got the hang of them, you can add in and experiment with more weight.

I'm not looking for hardcore muscle gainz, but I want to see progress and work towards getting more muscle and thus better metabolism (I think). I also want to be able to lift things more easily. lol. 

 

Any suggestions are encouraged. I'm wanting to stay away from the machines and start looking into doing some compound lifts instead. I really appreciate it, guys. 

It's great Rhia! As long as you're making steady progress and using good form, there not many bad programs. I do question decline sit-ups and deadlifts in the same program, there's been some murmuring about spine flexibility vs spine stability and the two training practices potentially being incompatible, but that's only if you're going very heavy on either. So, if that program looks fun to you, just run it for 4-6 weeks and see how it feels.

If you're not sure, I'll +1 to brodin's suggestion and recommend Strong lifts (https://stronglifts.com/apps/). It's a free app that works beautifully, easily one of the best fitness apps out there. Plan on playing with it for 4-6 weeks before making any changes, it only has five exercises that you've already mastered, split into two workouts - A) Squat-Overhead press-deadlift, B-Squat-bench-barbell row. You'd start with a naked bar (45 lbs) and increase the weight every day.
