I'm not doing the whole summer break thing For those who don't know me: Spoiler Hi, I'm Terah. 32 Year old mother of two boys. I've been with NF for over two years now. Trying every method there is to lose weight and get fit. I've been successful in the getting fit department: I've gotten a zumba addiction But the losing weight department has not been so successful. Last two challenges I spent working on my perception of food. Just to get it into my head that food is not good or bad, it's how you use it. I've been a doodlie (accountability group) for all my time here and have even lead them for the past 1,5 years. But now it's time to focus on me, and I've given the task of keeping the doodlies alive to Def and Shello <3 I've got the fitness thing down, and I'm going to keep on dancing. Starting next week I'll dance 4 hours a week (two hours zumba and 2 hours dancehall) with an other instructor. I'm really looking forward to this! My life goals are settled too. I've got a few different small jobs now, and looking for more while still trying to do a great job at the ones I have. It's settled in my routine right now, so no need to make this a challenge. So what am I going to do this round? This challenge I will focus on weight loss. I will combine IF (intermittent fasting) with kcal counting. Now I know I've said I hate kcal counting in the past. But I don't seem to get out of it if I want to lose weight. And in combination with IF it's not that bad. I only have to plan two meals and one snack a day. I'm going to eat 1200 kcal a day, 1500 on the days I have zumba practice. I know I can't outrun my fork, but I do need a little extra after such an intense workout. My eating window will be between 12:00 and 18:00 (lunch, snack and dinner). This way I'll still be able to eat big meals and feel satisfied and still lose weight And to be more accountable I've registered with DietBet. I've paid 35 dollars and if I lose 4% or more of my weight within 4 weeks I get my money back and probably a bonus. If I don't, I lose the money. Terah Posted June 27, 2017 Author Report Share Posted June 27, 2017 I managed to stay under 1200 kcal on Monday, and around 1500 kcal today (zumba day ) Next week I'll start with an other dance instructor, and my current instructor is taking this way too personal. I just want to focus more on actual dancing techniques in stead of just fitness. She has now announced my departure 4 times to the whole zumba group and proclaimed I will be back soon (if I even had plans of coming back, which I don't, I certainly won't be coming back now...). I'm trying to be nice for her, because I see this is mostly because of lack of confidence on her side and I don't want to hurt her feelings, but it's getting kind of annoying. Well, just one more zumba class from her. You need to add a piece of paper with a word on it that you get when you enter the competition. And you need to send a full body photo of yourself standing on the scale. Terah Posted July 1, 2017 Author Report Share Posted July 1, 2017 For the dietbet challenge I need to lose at least 3,4 kg in 4 weeks. It's been 5 days an I've already lost 2 kgs. Besides that I am really hungry during the day. Even during my eating window. So I'm going to eat a bit more. I will eat maintenance kcal (1844) and breakfast on Sunday and have a deficit of 500 kcal on the other days. Terah Posted July 5, 2017 Author Report Share Posted July 5, 2017 What I've learned the last few days: 1) Don't try to diet when the sharks are at the height of their strength. Just try to eat as healthy as possible I tried to, really had. But I failed. Next month I know to slow down and just do damage control. 2) Low kcal without intermittent fasting doesn't work for me. I need them both. My idea was to ease back into it. Just the kcal counting, no IF yet. What I forgot was that this led to smaller meals (duh!) and I just wasn't satisfied with them. So tomorrow I'll just jump in and do kcal counting AND IF. I started with my new zumba teacher yesterday! It was fun The space we're dancing in is a lot smaller than the previous one, and so is the group (we were with 8 ladies). Which is great, because the teacher was really able to help me get the steps right. I had a lot of fun.
