Hi, I'm Raptron. I do gymnastics, lift weights, and fill in the rest with the occasional run, visit to the stadium, hike, yoga session, bouldering session, etc. I like doing things. I also like people. Hello, people! This challenge doesn't officially start for a while, but I am going to post in it anyway.

1. Atomic Breath Weapon

Skreeeeeeonk~!

   *Idk, work out like you normally do?

 

Rapzilla's bread and butter. Doing the work is how we defeat all enemies. This goal is just phoning it it because Rapzillas gotta move or they get sad anyway.

2. Eat Your Vegetables

Lean, mean, green machine

   *Heaping servings of vegetables 14x per week

 

Rapzilla needs more veggies. We all need more veggies, really, but if you're this big and this green, you need more spinach than the average kaiju.

3. Public Service

Rebuild what you tear down

   *Take boxes down to recycling 1x per week 

   *Clean counters 2x per week

   *Sweep kitchen floor 2x per week

 

Rapzilla is really good at breaking things and making them dirty, but it seems like a good idea to follow-up on the reverse of that and help put things back together.

4. Queenly Beauty

Dragzilla...? would wear a wig...?

   *Attempt to braid hair for at least 30 minutes per week

   *Find a new face moisturizer 

 

Gotta keep up with those fresh lqqks. It's extra important to moisturize when you've got scales.

also, I bought a face moisturizer at the boston public market last May and I love it. It's this brand: https://www.carraigfarm.com/ and it was $10. I use it everyday and it's stiiiiiiiilll going! looks like their lotions are only $8 online though. i got scammed!

I am stoked about this workout. I had a very very slight assist from my spotter on the last rep of 127.5#  (the spreadsheet is rounding up), so it was technically 4/5 reps, but I am still really happy about that. I did an extra triple at 225# after the set of 5 just to spend more time under it and remind myself "THIS IS THE NEW NORMAL, BITCH" because I was getting in my head a little bit about them. Because of my timeline of working out, getting injured for a year, and then slowly picking up weights again over the last 14 months, the mental benchmarks I have of how strong I comfortably am are like 3 years old at this point but just stick in my head as these absolutes that are not at all relevant anymore. Brains are dumb, y'all. I am trying to throw them in the trash and accept the gains my future holds. :P

I definitely could not get 5 for 85# on that OHP (because, lol, it's fucking OHP), so it wound up just being 3 reps. I did 2 more sets of 2 at 85# because I was annoyed. Deadlifts! Not bad. I could feel myself over-recruiting my lower back even though there was no rounding. Come on, posterior chain, come throuuuuugh for me next time. Still ain't mad about this workout either though. 2 more 5s workouts and then we are on to 3s. :)

IT WAS A DAY. I did my first run in 3 weeks, hah, during lunch yesterday. My ankles are none too keen on the return to running. I have a short trail race (seriously short -- like a bit over 2 miles) on July 8 and then no real reason to run after that. I may still sign up for some other races? I dunno. As much as I don't like running, I kind of like having it in my workout plans? But then again, I also want to start climbing more...? Decisions, decisions.

After work, I went to gymnastics practice. It's going to be a sauna in there all summer but somehow, I conveniently forget that fact each time before I walk in. I just did some tumbling basics, beam basics + a few front walkovers, and tried bars again but my finger still isn't cooperating fully in grips. It's been about six weeks, so if it is the sprain I think it is, probably another 2 weeks or so before I can swing bars again. The fact that it bruises up again after I try makes me definitely lean toward healing sprain. But yeah, cool, cool.

there's always the Nov. spartan! or we usually do the costume dash in boston near halloween :D 

but climbing's cool too.

Oh, jeez. We did an intense ab routine in my KB class last night. It makes me realize that a) I need more ab work and b ) I hate ab work.

It's SO GOOD FOR YOU, guys. SO GOOD FOR YOU. I have a chronic problem of over-relying on my hip flexors to avoid using my lower abs (sigh) so they remain perpetually weak. Working these back in while being very conscious about trying to pull from the core instead of from the back + hips is both mentally and physically exhausting but 100% necessary if I want to continue doing the things I like to do. So I shall continue doing these ab torturefests. :)
