Day 00.5

giphy.gif

9850526e03b1705c44a40be7b5308ae0.png

I was really struggling during this workout, stamina-wise. Everything felt super heavy. I ate half a banana during the workout when I was really feeling run down. It definitely helped. My abs accessories this workout were playing around on the bosu ball:

Workouts: 5/5

Veggies: 6/14

Cleaning: counters 1/2, sweeping 1/2, boxes 0/1

Beautifying: braiding 15/30, lotion 0/1

Day 00.6

giphy.gif

Gymnastics practice! It was pretty good, actually. I was really really really close to throwing a front handspring + front pike + front tuck, but ultimately chickened out and then couldn't get my set-up to be nearly as good on future attempts. It remains in the Soon (TM) category of skills to learn. Otherwise, I worked on balance beam for a bit and continued hammering those front walkovers to try to get them to be more consistent up on the high beam.

Edit: I neglected to mention that this was also a really fun day of wandering around town! I met up with a friend at a beer garden for a very prestigious local brewery, got lobster rolls, swung by another bar on the way home, and then went to visit my friend who was bartending for probably... too long. :P

Workouts: 6/5

Veggies: 8/14

Cleaning: counters 1/2, sweeping 1/2, boxes 0/1

Beautifying: braiding 15/30, lotion 0/1

Day 00.7

Day off of workouts! I walked around town a bunch with a friend of mine to get ice cream, brunch, pick up something I left downtown the day before, etc. It was really warm but I'd rather be out walking around on my rest day than trying to coop myself up in the house in the AC.

Workouts: 6/5

Veggies: 10/14

Cleaning: counters 1/2, sweeping 1/2, boxes 0/1

Beautifying: braiding 15/30, lotion 0/1

It's SO GOOD FOR YOU, guys. SO GOOD FOR YOU. I have a chronic problem of over-relying on my hip flexors to avoid using my lower abs (sigh) so they remain perpetually weak. Working these back in while being very conscious about trying to pull from the core instead of from the back + hips is both mentally and physically exhausting but 100% necessary if I want to continue doing the things I like to do. So I shall continue doing these ab torturefests. :)

^^As someone with the same issue I second this

I am pretty jealous of lobster rolls!

also re: abs - I need to do more, I am sure, esp because my hips are all out of whack right now. adding this to my "areas of the body I need to research more about."

Day 0.1

tumblr_ok8jo1Dw9O1u8qr43o1_500.gif

Left work a couple of hours early because pretty much no one was in the office.

2a70ae84cba5dcd6b148b9988ae0c9c4.png

Climbed for a little bit after that but most of the routes are harder than I can manage right now so it was a lot of falling and staring at problems I couldn't quite figure out. Then I had some time to kill before meeting a friend for dinner so I decided to walk to the restaurant about 5-ish miles away instead of taking public transportation. It was lovely and continued my 3-day trend of walking a buttload.

Workouts: 2/5

Veggies: 3/14

Cleaning: counters 0/2, sweeping 0/2, boxes 0/1

Beautifying: braiding 0/30, lotion 0/1

Day 0.2

Went for another 3 mile run. It was in the morning and slower than my previous runs, clocking in around like a 10:30 pace instead of my more usual 9:30-ish pace, but whatever, got it done. Then I cleared out some boxes, cleaned the counters, and swept. I picked up fruit from the store for my super patriotic pie, which turned out great:

And tasted great too. :D Stopped by a cookout hosted by a local nerd and said hi to some local Camp peeps. I feel like I look like I am gonna beat some kid up and steal their lunch money with this outfit:

eb9328b876a1e13a4ec1172dafeb8f26.png

I TRIED BRAIDING REALLY HARD. It didn't quite work so I added in a hair tie. Sigh. Haha.

Workouts: 3/5

Veggies: 3/14

Cleaning: counters 1/2, sweeping 1/2, boxes 1/1

Beautifying: braiding 20/30, lotion 0/1

Day 0.3

I took Wednesday off of workouts for recovery and instead ate my bodyweight in comfort food, took a nap, and tried not to let the hangover dictate my life. Completely unrelated side note: I finished watching the first season of Twin Peaks for the first time last night and YELLED AT THE TV because nothing was resolved, so many more questions were raised, and there are cliffhangers for every single plot line. I immediately got to googling to find a blog or recap or something of that episode and the top hit was about how mad everyone was in 1991 when it originally aired. I found comfort in the fact that my response was so standard that there are ARTICLES about it. GRRR.

HASHTAG GOALS!

Hahaha, they are perhaps not the best for fitness or overall healthy lifestyles, no. Maximizing FUN? Maybe.

Day 0.4-0.5

No workouts. Lots of rosé, lots of fries, lots of pizza, lots of Twin Peaks, and important naps.

Workouts: 3/5

Veggies: 6/14

Cleaning: counters 1/2, sweeping 1/2, boxes 1/1

Beautifying: braiding 20/30, lotion 0/1

Day 0.6

Gymnastics practice was actually really good. I took care of my floor basics, tumbling, front handspring + front layouts, etc. before moving on to balance beam where I had like a miraculous day of back handsprings on the low beam. They were really on fire. Super consistent, completely over the beam, and I felt such confidence with them that I haven't felt since trying to relearn them. Front walkovers were also fine on high beam and I played with trying to connect them to a cartwheel or dive cartwheel. It could be a new series if I don't manage to convince myself to get those back handsprings up on high beam this season.

Later on, we had a short evening trail race + longer post-race dance party to attend. I unfortunately rolled my ankle like 8x and had to slow down much more than I would have wanted to make sure I was being careful. It seems like it is uninjured, but it just KEPT turning and I was frustrated.

a62243361f0eeb6e1cad9876842fca3e.png

But yeah, dance party was fun. It poured rain on us before the race and during much of the post-race party but it was pretty hot outside so no one really minded. After the built-in dance party died down, we tried to go dancing elsewhere but the place was packed and the cover band was not shining, so we wound up eating burritos on the sidewalk and doing an inebriated handstand clinic, among other late night shenanigans.

Workouts: 5/5

Veggies: 6/14

Cleaning: counters 1/2, sweeping 1/2, boxes 1/1

Beautifying: braiding 30/30, lotion 0/1

Day 0.7

tumblr_lwiyzx6q601qfm0klo1_500.jpg

Continuing the week's trend of ups and downs, Sunday was a down. I had a really nice brunch and went for a long walk, but ultimately went home and took another nap in our arctic air conditioning in the bedroom. That's really the sum of my day's activities. I started watching Riverdale to break up my Twin Peaks binge. It's a gentler kind of melodrama.

Workouts: 5/5

Veggies: 8/14

Cleaning: counters 2/2, sweeping 1/2, boxes 1/1

Beautifying: braiding 30/30, lotion 0/1

OK. Now that the two zero weeks are over, I am ready to buckle back in. More real food (vegetables!) and back to my regularly scheduled lifting life.

Soooo easy. It's almost like taking a week off of lifting is good for you or something. I'm going to write an ebook about my pizza and rosé filled rest week and sell it under  -- Rosé and Slay: Raptron's Guide to Having Your Cake and Lifting It Too. Real talk, we had pizza catered for lunch yesterday so I had pizza for no fewer than 5 meals between Friday and Monday. Pizza-fueled trash gremlin. :victorious:

Workouts: 1/5

Veggies: 2/14 <-- Salad with pizza and then a bunch of sauteed crucifers mixed into my mac and cheese (I didn't specify HOW to eat the veggies :P)

Cleaning: counters 1/2, sweeping 0/2, boxes 0/1

Beautifying: braiding 0/30, lotion 0/1

I also made a pan of brownies and a rum cherry sauce to go with them for my brownie sundae needs. That meant I cleaned the counter afterwards because cocoa gets everywhere. Win-win. This is my favorite brownie recipe so they're these guys with some pecans: http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/fudge-brownies-recipe Awww yes.

Lifting tonight, run or NP on Wednesday, gymnastics Thursday, lifting Friday, Gymnastics Saturday, ??? Sunday as per usual. I think I am going to the beach so it'll probably be a rest day.
