How Far Can You Go? (Running / Walking Distance PvP) [June 26th - Aug 5th]

Note: I was inputting my miles from this morning and noticed that the km->miles conversion calculation was backwards so I corrected it in the spreadsheet.

Between Tough Mudder at the weekend and an easy run this morning I'm up to 41.24 miles. Also have enough colouring done to show off my mileage tracker:

@Jarric - loving that tracker!

Whilst I was calculating my weekly mileage, I was just thinking about how I can use trackers to chart my progress on various different types of runs - for example, my 1-mile time, or my long-run pace, or my weekly mileage, or some combination of all of them!

This week's not been good for adding mileage. I took a few days leave from work as it was hubby's birthday, and then I went to the Pune office and stayed in a hotel, so this week I had 3 days below my average baseline (2.4 miles). So with three days at 0 challenge miles, I'm a bit behind. Having said that, today is actually going well! With 2 doggy walks left to complete, I've already completed 4.18 miles :)

Current challenge miles for the week = 6.58 miles

Overall = 16.41 miles (currently 8th place!)

My final extra miles for the week came in at 8.1, with a total today of 5.1 completed (that's 3.3 for the challenge).

This is by far the most walking I've done in a long time (and 1 mile was my recovery run)!

My total is just shy of 18 miles, but I moved back to 9th place for the time being!

Hey guys! I'm back from my holiday, and even though I didn't get any running in, I did soooo much walking! I've got some serious catching up to do this week, but thankfully it's a deload week on my lifting program so I should have the time and energy to get some good miles in. No excuses! Hope everyone has a good week!

I'm still steadfastly bringing up the rear, 1.8 miles at a time.  How it's the challenge going for everyone? There are a few people now who are getting up there in mileage.

A quick calculation shows that as a team we've done nearly 450 miles! That's amazing, well done everyone!

I have been very poor at getting out there and moving this week. The monsoon has kicked it up a notch in the last week, with heavy rains every day. I've been cutting the daily doggy walks shorter than usual, coz neither of us likes to get drenched multiple times a day. Several days I didn't make the minimum distance to qualify as extra miles. Today (Sunday) has been good, with grey skies and just the odd shower, so I managed to get out for a 5K run :D

It's the first day this week that I've completed more than 10000 steps, and I still have 5 more hours left in the day to get some more steps in...

I'm more of a plodder than a sprightly gazelle when it comes to running, so I was quite happy to clock a 34:59 for my 5K today (and as it was cooler out, I only went slightly pink compared to the bright red I usually turn!)

Next week, I'm going to Pune for 3 days... need to work out where and when I can get some miles in. The hotel doesn't have a gym, and I'm not too sure of the surrounding area... I'll ponder on it some and see if I can work out a solution.

I can repeat others advice, which is to ask at check-in about local playgrounds. You can jog to them, get some strength training on monkey bars or whatever they have, then jog back.  (I haven't tried this myself because I feel weird playing in a kid's playground, but it is a good solution for the less self-conscious.)

It does feel a little weird at first. But it's not that bad if you go in the morning before anyone's really there.

Recently I've seen a couple of other people using the playground I go to for exercise. That also helps bring the weirdness down.

Forgoed (forewent? forgodden?) my long run at the weekend in favour of a long pub walk with a friend. It was about 10 miles but as I didn't track it and my personal goal is running only I'm not counting it.

I've still just edged into 3rd though, which is cool B)
