Much respect for Cave Johnson as a cat name.

What's interesting is that the other cat (age 8), who has "raised" two kittens, is much more standoffish with this one. He comes over and checks her out and sniffs her, and has licked her on the head once or twice, but he's not palling around with her like Leon (Mr 17 Lbs) has been. It's fun and interesting watching them figure out their social dynamics.

Cave Johnson lives up to his namesake in level of crazies.

Atlas is named after one of the co-op bots in Portal 2. Our third pet was supposed to be Peabody (the other bot), but we got a girl cat, and she named herself Monkey before we had a chance to theme the name, soooo :P

Monkey has 6 toes on all of her feets and when we found her, she was using her opposable thumbs to climb small branches to the roof of our second story porch before we gifted her to @tourennatrix. Hence - the moniker Monkey. ^_^

Okay, pausing from kitten talk (JUST FOR A MINUTE EVERYBODY CALM DOWN)

I am feeling the legs more than the arms this morning! Those one-legged squats, though.

I was going to try the next NFA boss battle yesterday, but it needs a jump rope. I'll bring one to the gym next week and try it then, although I have not been doing the NF workouts much. But, you know, experience points. I need experience points.

Our historic cemetery is hosting a "Run Like Hell" Halloween 5k. Aw yeah.

Here. Here is your kitten photo.

it was really hard to read those words with that kitty being all like "i so fluffy come get my tummy so i can kills you!"

That really is her primary mode. That or "asleep."

The other day she climbed up a 3' scratching post, slapped the top with a paw and more or less slid back down to the floor. I was like THAT'S JUST LIKE ME ON THE ROCK WALL

But yay all the things! (esp. cemetery not taking itself too seriously, that amuses me so)

Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta is basically the historic cemetery here, and they embrace a lighthearted attitude. They have haunted tours at Halloween and a Victorian holiday festival every year that's fun.

Two more thoughts on a rest day:

1. I'm resisting taking another set of measurements because I don't think I've made any progress and think I've probably backslid. That's not a reason to avoid it, but I'm doing it anyway.

2. I haven't been running lately (except on the elliptical at the gym, which is pretty dull). I think I've just got to recognize that running in Georgia summer heat is impractical for me, and expect to give it a break every June-Sept or so. Or lower the bar for how far and long I plan to run when I do.

As long as we're clear about it.

I have to say even though the weather has gone from sunny, to (rainy to cloudy) x3, to hailing, to cloudy, to thunderstorm and back to sunny in the space of 6 hours, I'd rather take that than endless, oppressive heat! Uggh.

There are tradeoffs, but yeah. It's hard to see them at this time of year. :)

I want this weather right now rather than what we have (which is also endless, oppressive heat-death-sun). I mean, I like the sun. My new living room has fantastic, large windows to let in the sunlight. I don't much care for it when it comes with the super, hot temps and high humidity that makes doing anything outside feel like such a huge ordeal. :P

I love the sun too! Sunny summer days here are amazing as we got loads of it, aaaaall day long (and almost all night...) but it never gets that hot. Which makes me have the opposite problem where I feel like I "have to" go outside as soon as it's nice because you never know if it's going to last for two weeks or two hours.

We get a lot of "breaks" in our autumns and winters here, where we'll have a nice day or two before it gets cold again. I often feel like that when that happens! But not in the summer; it's just brutal and oppressively hot sometimes.

(Not that it gets what a European would call "cold" very often. If it does, it doesn't last.)

Omg the flummy.

Also, yeahhhh oppressive heat is just hard to work with. I do know some people that do very early or very late runs to try to avoid it, but that sounds like a huge lifestyle shift just to do some cardio. The kickboxing is probably helping keep your heart/endurance in good shape in the mean time! You could try more rowing or something along those lines if you really want to make sure you don't lose HEART POWERRR in the summer, but you are probably doing ok!

I'm debating what to do today. Usually Friday is my climbing day, but this week I'm going out of town for a meeting on Friday, so I was thinking I'd climb today. But I might not feel like it today? I can't decide.

Oh, and I attempted the level 4 NFA boss battle today -- first time I failed a boss battle, I think! I maxed out most of it (assisted one-legged squats, push-ups, slow negative chin-up) but the jump rope was my undoing. The max score possible was 60, and my best was 20. I will need a lot more practice with the jump rope.
