I made a spreadsheet for us! :D It's not the prettiest but whatevs. At the moment we simply don't get scored at all for the week if we don't do at least two stretch sessions (because lazy spreadsheeting), but feel free to change it however you want.

Hah! That was exactly the penalty I just wrote in your challenge thread...

Ughhh. I forget things all the time but they're usually things I can work around! That is so frustrating to have to go home. I am glad your upper body workout went well though!

I may be overthinking this, but I actually woke up a couple of times last night about this post worried that you might take it the wrong way.  It sounded really funny in my head when I typed it, but then kept thinking that it may not come across the way I meant it to someone who doesn't know me well. :(

I left the locker room and went all pouty-faced to the owner. Amazingly, no one had any extra clean leggings with them (though there were long sleeved shirts in abundance). My upper body workout was a spiteful spit in the face to the universe that didn't want me to fly on Monday.

Circus yesterday. +5 points I remembered all of my clothing this time (yay!)

So much ab floor work. My coach likes to do abs as a 'warm up' so we wind up going through the "Five Minutes of Wonderment" on a regular basis which is a variety of ridiculous ab exercises (crunches! bicycles! floppy fish! side plank! tuck/pike/straddle! it never ends!) for 30 seconds each until we reach five minutes. Ooof. And I can't score it since Unicycle Abs is the challenge vid for this week. :(

Then more ab work on the silks or rope! Many straddle ups. I'm still at bent arm/straight leg but I feel like they're getting pretty good. I managed 3 on each side from the floor. Next week's goal: 3 on each side from the air -- as in, go one climb up and don't touch the ground again or come back into a basic climb position until 3 inversions on each side are done cleanly. I may have to drop back to bent arm/bent leg for these, then work my way back up.

Then front body balance. Then flag. Then front body balance from flag. Each side each time.

Then Cossack climb to flag and back to Cossack. On each side.

Somewhere in there we worked on toe climb on the rope. I don't have my notes so forget when, exactly.

Then side beats on the rope. I cannot do these to save my life. I have no idea what muscles I'm supposed to be firing at what point.

Then we worked on sumo wraps on each side, which are pretty fun and somewhat terrifying.

At the end we worked on 360 drops in the hammock to learn about the difference between doing a drop by folding at the hip vs. keeping a straight body. So fun! I'm going to have a weird bruise across my armpit/chest, I think, but it's worth it. Love drops.

Coll down stretching then home to a shower and an egg burrito for dinner.

I fell asleep on the couch around 9.30. Hubs woke me up so I could go to bed. I was totally zonked and asleep before 10.30. Slept like the dead until my 3rd snooze this morning (I don't remember the initial alarm or first two snoozes whatsoever..)

Two more days of madness at work then things will (hopefully) calm down and get back to normal.

No scheduled circus next week, so I'll hit open gym on Monday and work on some of the stuff I'm struggling with in class. I haven't had the time to get to open gym nearly as much as I'd like, but next week will be a good opportunity to review some of the skills we're doing.

I'm scouring the internets to see what pictures I can find of all this stuff. None of these photos are me, obvs.

Sumo wrap is kind of like this, but a slightly different wrap around the thigh/leg

This is back body balance. Front body balance is similar, just facedown instead.

and here's a video of toe climb

YAAAAS all the circus. Trying to think which thing you call 360 drop on the hammock might be/ if we call it something different at my gym. I'm thinking it might be what we call either waterfall or star depending on who is teaching.  Which hilariously enough there is a video of one of the teachers from my gym doing on youtube when I just searched it! Is it this one?

In my experience rope does supports you in some interesting ways that silks don't but I have never actually tried anything like a back balance on it. I soooo want to do more rope. So cool!!!

I've been wondering how the back balance on rope compares to back balance on trapeze/hoop? I would think it's a lot more difficult since you're holding yourself up and don't get the support from the rigid base, but then again I could also imagine it being not quite *that* difficult since you shape the rope to your body?

Also how do you get into it?

I've not done back balance on trap or hoop, only front balance, so I can compare those..

Front balance on trap is easier for me since all I have to think about is the balance part. The trap isn't going anywhere. That said, I don't find front balance on the rope to be that hard, just rough on the grip and tough if you don't get your hands in the right places.

I am terrible at describing these things, but here's an attempt:

To get into front body balance, straight arm hang from vertical apparatus. Slide the low hand down to below hip level and bring it around to the back of your hip bone. Fold at the waist and let go with the top hand.

Similar from the floor, one high hand, one low hand, with the silk/rope in front of you, grip hard, pull up a little with the top hand and fold forward at the waist.

Back body balance I typically either get into from the ground or from catcher's hang.

From the ground, one hand high, rope or silks around behind your back, grab it with the low hand, grip hard with the low hand and pick your feet off the ground.

From catchers, basically just unhook your knee and you're there.

So, even though I am terrible at beats and side beats, you are supposed to use your lats a lot to control your movement. Two days after working on them, my lats are in DOMS City. Woot?

Def Woot!
