Victory! Greek yoghurt is food of the gods. Could maybe the probiotics be offsetting anything nasty? Oh wait, that was a question. Don't ask any of those just go and faceplant yoghurt.

Breakfast smoothie experiment (that's blueberry egg white protein powder). This could either be delicious or disgusting. Let's find out.

EDIT: I usually love the taste of matcha and have had blueberry matcha iced tea before so I'm a little surprised this isn't quite working for me and it's 100% because of the matcha.  It's pretty good but it's not the best.  Further experimentation is needed.

I love the protein in greek yogurt, but man, in order to make it sweet enough to like it, I end up adding so much sugary things!  LOL.    I too think I'd like your matcha thing... but then often have the issue where it sounds great on paper and then fails me!

Ah, a bit of lactose intolerance. I some experiential knowledge. If you can handle Greek yoghurt, you can probably handle cheeses made goat or sheep's milk, or cheese that has been aged for a long time. Especially if you keep up the lacto-bacillus. Kombucha is the ticket there.

So much faceplant.

I did end up looking into it and apparently greek yoghurt specifically is strained so many more times than other yoghurts it removes a bunch more of the lactose than traditional ones.  I've had issues with non-greek yoghurts hurting my belly before so while I'm sure the probiotics definitely help I think the combo of that + the specifically low lactose content in the greek kind is really what's doing it.

I really like the tartness! On the other hand I also don't really mind having fruit sugar as long as I have room for it in my carb macros. I think next time I'll add coconut milk instead of almond milk because that's usually what I put in my matcha so maybe it was just missing how I'm used to drinking it or something. The texture was perfection though.

Mmmmmmm kombucha <3 <3  I do need to work on getting more of that in my life.  Goat cheese definitely still hurts me, but SUPER hard cheese (like grating cheeses) I can usually eat and be totally fine.

Agree with this - I make my own greek yoghurt too and you can strain it for even longer if you do it yourself. It's easy, cheaper and tastier.

Week 1 Summary

bsb-chair-morph.gif

So I definitely finished out my week strong! I went to a friends birthday/going away party Saturday night and drank a bit too much.  I originally wasn't going to drink at all but one of the kegs was actually super delicious beer, not crappy BS that is typical of party kegs, and it sucked me in.  I had a ton of fun, and since my friend is moving to London for over a year soon I'm not terribly upset about this slippage - I ate really healthily otherwise.  I went to Mr. Raxie's family's bbq over the weekend as well and got fish fillets to put on the grill so I didn't have burger/hot-dogs/veggie burgers that did not fit into my macros well.    I honestly can't believe after ordering out so early in the week that I ended up not eating out again all week!! I really thought I had screwed the pooch on that one.

Yesterday I tried out greek yogurt as a replacement for cream cheese on a lox and tomato open faced sandwich and it worked out amazing.  So much tastier than all the weird dairy-free stuff I've tried over the years. I was feeling a bittttt hungover yesterday and wanted nachos SO BAD.  But I controlled myself and instead made a super delicious quinoa enchilada bake!  It definitely filled the craving and was tortilla-free and low carb.  And I got to experiment using greek yogurt as sour cream.  That worked too.

...at this point I may as well rename this challenge "Raxie does nothing but eat Greek Yogurt for 4 weeks".

I worked out all three times, and the third time Saturday morning I CRUSHED it and got through the circuits quicker than ever, and was able to up my push up number per circuit by 2 and the number of squats and RDLs per circuit by 5 each!! I also am far far far less sore today than I was last week.

Rings & Handstands + Other Stuff Workout under the spoiler

10 hanging scapular retractions

3 hanging leg tucks

15 seconds straight arm support on rings with toes on ground

15 BW squats

15x20lb kettlebell romanian DL

I've also been doing Yoga with Adrienne's 30 Days of Yoga on my non-strength training days, and have been doing ROMWOD almost daily as well.  Yesterday I did their once-a-week 50 minute session and it was BRUTALLLLL.  Man I really love ROMWOD though.  Meditation is going well too, I'm on a 6 day streak at the moment and it's starting to get easier again.    This second week I'm adding to my Fly Lady daily work so cleaning will start to get a little bit more intense.  I did miss a day of cleaning last week because I got back so late from my friends party and just went right to bed, but nothing fell apart because of it so it's cool.

Week 2 Daily Cleaning Routine Under Spoiler

Spoiler

do dishes

shine sink

5 minute hot spot clean up

cat litter and water bowl maintenance

15 minutes of decluttering (this is new this week!)

3/3 Strength Workouts

Everybody Sing - 100%

Bring the Flavour - 100%

1/1 ordering out food

Better Answer Now - 91%

5/6 Fly Lady Days Met

5/5 Headspace Meditation Sessions

Per this weeks "tweaking" mini challenge I'll be switching my cleaning and meditation goals -- so 5 days of daily cleaning (ie on weekdays) and 6 days of meditation (ie aim for every day but give myself the flexibility to miss one).  I just tend to not be home enough on weekends to really get any cleaning done, and meditation can be done anywhere!

Welllllll I left all the ones that didn't have real ingredients in them behind (seriously some of them are "strawberry" and literally have no strawberries in the ingredients!! #horrifying).  And to be fair ~half of those are for Mr. Raxie......

But yes basically that's what I did hahah

I just watched a documentary on this!!! I actually found it quite fascinating - it sounded like a few of the people in the documentary were seemingly able to turn their gut demons into gut fairies.   So I'm not quite as horrified by this as you might think.  However the documentary was on like some rogue guy (ie not an official study) doing it and basically giving his poo to other people for money so it was a definitely kinda questionable. Mrs. Sloth's friends sounds way more legit :D Do you think you're gonna do it?! I'm not sure if I would, despite my fascination hahaha.  But maybe I would.  FOR SCIENCE!

This has been on my radar for a while now, but I don't think so. Your gut faeries control or influence so much - mood, emotions, immune response, whether you're lean or obese. But If I knew the donor was healthy, happy, lean, and ate well I'd likely say yes.

This will become a standard procedure soon.
