The big one this month is cleaning.  My landlord has posted an ad already and I need to get this place into viewing shape.  It's not bad, but it's not great either.  I've let some stuff slide lately.  Too much.

So, dividing the tasks into Before Viewings (this sunday) and Before Moving (Sept 1st).  I'm also indicating the effort required in tasks which mostly also corelates to my aversion to doing them.

Strategy:  Wednesday and Saturday this week - do 1 exetnded time, 1 medium time, and 1 quick task.  The smaller things will slide if the bigger things are done.  Other days - do at least one quick task and a medium one if I can manage it.

Before viewings:

  • wash bathroom walls - extended time - the big one.  I do not want to do this.  It squicks me more than it really should.  So I will do it first.
  • wash hallway walls - medium
  • bathroom sink - quick
  • Clean up calcium buildup on kitchen sink tap and shower head - quick, but needs to be done again
  • Stairway - medium - use magic eraser on some spots near the bottom
  • Windows - extended time
  • floors - quick
  • kitty litter area - medium
  • Throw out some accumulated small boxes - quick - keep any useful ones for packing
  • dust back of stove - quick??

Before moving: Also check apartment cleaning checklist (the landlords are very thorough).  If possible, have complete before parents visit mid-august.  That said, it really isn't a problem if my place is not immaculate when they visit.  Mom and Dad really do just want to see me and will not care if the place is messy and half packed.  It may even make Mom fret less about the state of their place when I visit.  NO MAJOR CLEANING while they are here!

  • replace bedroom blind - need to find one :-/
  • storage cupboard - medium
  • kitchen sink cupboard - get rid of old/unused cleaning chemicals - extended time
  • get rid of old AC and a few bigger things - have small trucking company take to dump - quick
  • bedroom walls - quick
  • living room walls - quick
  • dust back of fridge - quick?
  • Clean underneath fridge and stove - medium
  • Clean behind/under bookshelves - as I pack the books - medium
  • clean fridge - quick
  • clean oven and stove - medium
  • change out a few dead spotlight bulbs in the kitchen (do not need all of them so I haven't gotten to it) - quick
  • baseboards - quick

Other things to be done pre-move:

  • Sign new lease and confirm carpets will be removed
  • Book the moving company to help
  • Pick up cedar balls for my trunk
  • Get rid off moth balls in trunk
  • New drying rack for clothes
  • new dish rack
  • New litter boxes - it's been a while since I replaced them
  • While shopping, buy new kettlebell!!

*Not actually this bad.

Exercise:

Run - once/week

Strength train - body weight or kettlebell, not fussed - twice/week

Try to do all upcoming boss battle missions on RH - excepting any diet ones I deem excessive

Game planning:

Get the pre-built module sorted

Adapt the other one

Get guys to make characters

Plot out first two sessions/chapters

I hear you on cleaning. I'm having my spinning group over in two weeks. Nothing is quite so motivating as a bunch of older ladies who keep lovely homes. Some of the spinners are younger than me, but they don't tend to host meetings. I will look to you for cleaning inspiration. B)

Yep.  It's not even that they'd say anything.  You just know that they will *see* it.  Finding out that people would be in soon made my apartment assessment go from "Could use some work, but fine" right to "Pit of Filth."

Yes. Exactly this.

The update:

  • wash bathroom walls - extended time - Partially complete, clean enough.  Still needs to be finished before moving.
  • wash hallway walls - medium
  • bathroom sink - quick
  • Clean up calcium buildup on kitchen sink tap and shower head - incomplete, need CLR.  But cleaned up pretty well.
  • Stairway - medium - swept and tidy, the walls still do need some cleaning.
  • Windows - extended time - actually cleaner than I thought, didn't get to it.
  • floors - quick
  • kitty litter area - medium
  • Throw out some accumulated small boxes - quick - keep any useful ones for packing
  • dust back of stove - quick??

The place actually looks pretty great now.  I did some other stuff, like storing spare blankets and such away.  The place looks remarkably less cluttered.   There's still work to do.

This week ended up getting eaten by an intense work week, cleaning, and working on my game.  They all went well but I did not work out :-(    Not happy about that.  This week should be the RH boss battle.  I will do better.

Checking out Circus Maximus.  Very good so far.

Yay for getting your apartment looking great!

Too bad that work ate all your exercise time. I hope things go better this week.

Several people veiwing the apartment commented on how clean it is.  Not gonna lie, I was smug.

Round 1 of attempting to buy a new kettlebell was not successful.  Will try again tomorrow or maybe tonight.  I do need to sort some game stuff out and workout tonight.

Sleep has been fairly bad the last few nights.  Definitely feeling the effects of sloggier thought processes.  Hopefully better tonight.

Got 6 hours of sleep last night and feeling rather better.  6 hours is still not good sleep, but I'm functional on that.

Getting epic piles of stuff done on my game and RH boss battle!  I will, grudgingly, even take a cold shower before bed.  Not my morning shower though.  Not unless someone really needs to be verbally shredded.  I am very hateful post-cold shower.

Dishes are honestly the worst part of keeping a clean house because they're the one thing that you have to dirty. And if I remember right, you don't have a dishwasher. That's gotta be annoying. :\

September 1st I will have a dishwasher.  The countdown is on.

Getting a dishwasher was one of the best perks about buying our house. It can only handle about 75% of the dishes (no wood, only some metals and plastics), but that is still a huge improvement. I no longer set lightly-used items aside to use again. :D

That's what I'm hoping for!

So, week 2 ended in a giant pile of stress.  Nothing challenge related got done except maybe some work on my game and booked the movers.

Week 3 - not as much as I'd hoped, but something on every goal.

  • Cleaning - maintained apartment, decluttered here and there, brought home some boxes.
  • Workouts - 1 run (pretty bad) and a strength workout (rather better, though my pushups kind of suck right now).  Both the past weekend :-/
  • Game - characters made, ran the first half of Thunder Run but leaving the rest for another time, determined that the other pre-built should be left for later.

Week 4 so far - Plotting out first session of main game.  Have a story idea, finding a ship layout, and coming up with ideas for the PC's ship AI.  We came very close to having a Red Dwarf themed cast: Mechalus guy, guy woken after being frozen for ~300 years, cat girl, ship AI.  The last PC opted for a lizard race guy though.

Rising Heroes has a morning routine special op that I'm working on.  All good habits and I'm enjoying it.  The path I'm on in it describes me embarrassingly well.  I'm also working on one of the cooking ones to unlock later content.  While I can appreciate the flow and efficiency to mise en place cooking, I am also grumpy over the extra dishes.  Overall, still enjoying RH!  It's nice to hang out with PinkNinja, JoeDog, Nax, and Chemgeek on there too :-D

Vacation is scheduled for the week of the 14th.  Very much looking forward to it.   I need some time off.  Mom and Dad will be here for some of it!

New Voltron this coming weekend!  We also finally watched The Arrival on Saturday.  It was superb.

Stoked about new Voltron! And also, I'd heard that The Arrival was good. It's been recommended to me before. I might have to see about watching it.

Sounds like RH is proving to be a lot of fun! Very cool. I hope it continues to be so for you!
