Ladylydia's 90 day challenge- Part II.... again

I'm actually not sure. It's far from the biggest lawn I've ever had. But it's bigger than all of my neighbors'. It's big enough that I can never get it done in a single day, at least not with my schedule. It takes 3-4 hours with a push mower, and I only ever have time in the later evenings, so it usually hits dark before I finish. Partially this is due to my cheap mower, which likes to give out on me, and the fact that I have a container garden spread out over one section. It's big enough, that it's a hassle.
  4. Whisper

Whisper Grows Up, Cuts the Crap and Learns to Sleep!

Monday: Whisper Grows Up Not much direct progress here. Worked a 10 hour shift and had two hours of music after that. Not a bad day, just not much time for sorting and such. I did check off all habits. Cut the Crap! 2,200 cals, 69% fat, 22% pro, 9% carbs. No junk at all! Learn to Sleep Laptop left at work, phone powered off at 7:30 and in bed on time. Fitbit says sleep was 8:15 to 4:12, 6 hr 51 min of sleep 1hr 6 min awake.
  5. I was a big fan of my life wheel inspired challenge last time and I'm going to stick with a version of it this challenge. As a reminder I've chosen eight categories for my Life Wheel: Career: How I feel about my employment. Finance: How I feel about my earnings. Health: How I feel about my health. Social: How I feel about my social life. Contribution: How I feel about my contributions to my community. Recreation: How I feel about my downtime. Love: How I feel about the love in my life. Self-Image: How I feel about myself. My lowest ranking categories are Finance, Health, Social, and Contribution. There isn't much I'm able to do about my Finances that I haven't already done. Now it's a waiting game until August/September. However, I would like to go over my income since February and write up a budget based on my average income. That will help me get a better understanding of where I'm at now and where I need to be to be stable. Health is a two-fold problem. Mental and physical. I need to see a doctor about my anxiety. In my line of work I need to be stable and right now I'm straddling the edge. As for physical health I need to make actual appointments to go to the gym. My goal is 2-3 times per week. If I go 3 times I'll have an upper body day, a lower body day, and a cardio/core day. I'd also like to get out and do some day hikes in the area. Easy ones that are barely more than walking. Social is tricky. One of the parts that bothers me the most about my social life is I'm the one that does all the planning and inviting and whatever. It sucks. I've tried telling my friends it bothers me but it never changes. I'm going to try and go to two social events to meet new people this challenge though. Maybe that'll work out. Contribution is a little tricky too. I don't want to overwhelm my schedule but I want to give back. I'll look into volunteering with Haven and if it doesn't require too much time I'll do that.

The annoying guy was there, but I jiu jitsu'd my way around him. So...yeah, I spoiled the "highlight" of the day--work changed their policy on attire effective that day! Yay! The upshot is jeans are allowed, but no t-shirts or sleeveless shirts. Ever. No more casual Friday. Oh boy, sure you can buy more jeans to wear and you can hope to heck you have enough short sleeve shirts that cannot be construed as "t-shirt" for the week. Spoiler, I'm cutting it close. I decided to buy the same shirt sufficient for 3 days of the week, use a shirt that's essentially the same style as the bought shirts, and got a $3.60 men's button-down shirt on clearance partly because the 3 shirts were 3 whole cents away from free shipping, partly because I am really attracted to the idea of wearing a button-down on Fridays. With a t-shirt under it. And that will be my uniform from now on, because if you're going to cause turmoil, might as well take every last ounce of thinking out of the process from now on in exchange. I don't think I'll be buying jeans because time and money. Might be obvious, but I did not stay quiet during the meeting, so no points there. Not even sorry. Speaking of far I appear to be spending an average of $182 ($208) per week on groceries themselves + monthly Instacart charges + separate cat food/litter supply. This is within the upper end of average when shopping for myself--it tends to be in the $500-$700 range per month. I can count on one hand the times it's been higher than $800 at my main grocery store. Now I am being a lot more week-to-week in my considerations of what to buy, so we lose a bit in terms of surplus items "just in case," but for the purposes of gauging how much it costs for what we actually need it seems to be an acceptable level of cost for not having to deal with the full Shopping Experience. Due to said clothing turmoil, I became highly motivated and finished my first aid training, along with starting to work on automated testing. Gonna try to install Python + Webdriver then see if I can learn the language. Shouldn't be the hardest part of the job--the hardest part might be the install or interfacing with the website to be tested for the first time. We'll see. Dojo time was hanmi kotegaeshi, the highlight of which was not losing balance and landing a knee on uke's temple. You know, might not be such a great idea. Luckily that did not occur. Came home and just did class review, because I had to clear out my closet to see what remained permissible for ze office gestapo. Not a lot, but enough to get me by until my new uniform arrives. Ate all of the food (2700~ calories' worth) because I was hungry and I'm not really fussed staying under calories, honestly.

Track reps for push-ups and sit-ups AMRAP and daily total. STR +1 A = 290 min, weekly met. To help with spar and heart health, I am planning to integrate HIIT into my weekly routine. I've been dabbling in it, but next challenge this category will specifically track it. Flexibility: Stretching and Physical Therapy - 560 min total, 140 weekly. DEX +1 A = 560 min, weekly met. Track lunch portions for 24 of 28 days. Track "fasting" after dinner nightly for 24 of 28 days. CON +1 A = 25 of 28 days, weekly met. Got bloated once. Weight is fine. Waist is shrinking still. I may need a new belt soon. Probably getting new pants too. Keep on cutting out the crap - No CheezIts, limit snacking at work, 6 Dr Peppers a week, and limit cheese to 6 meals a week. CON +1 A = 24 DPs, 20 Cheese, weekly met. Junk food is mostly chocolate, ice cream. I did have chips and popcorn once each. No CheezIts though. Epic Quest - Complete something EPIC! I want to be able to look back at my four week challenge and say, "that was the challenge I did X". My challenges tend to be a lot of the same old. I've given myself plenty to improve in small steps, but I also want to see big strides in the things I've been working on. What box can I check? What have I been procrastinating? What am I focusing on? WIS +2, CHA +2 A = Epic Stuff included fixing brake stuff on the van, fixing tires on my Prius, finishing reading a novel, started writing my research paper, assisted proposal writing for work, completed some Toastmasters stuff, and planned a Lunch and Learn on Briefing and PowerPoint. INCENTIVES! Working hard for CASH! ($148.35 carried over) $186.35 to carry over. REWARD: For each week in which I complete 22 or more hours of Chores and Maintenance, I will put aside $10 to spend how I see fit. Lightning tries New Game+

Day 1 Week Zero Weapon: Body Weight 1/3 Shield: Tracking food 1/7 Armor: No Gluten 1/7 Health Potion: 3 cups of water/tea 1/7 Animus: Sleep 7 hours- I think so. I did my push ups and squats outside while I took a walk. Forgot about the planks so I did them this morning. Today is a coffee kind of day so we shall see if I can choke down some water. Wish I liked it. Even harder to drink it when it's cloudy and damp outside. Had a rough night of sleep, but I think I ended up with 7 hours.

Sounds awesome. Looking forward to seeing how you level up the lifting programme! Also good luck on fighting the unnecessary fear. If the new programming doesn't work out you can always go back to what you were doing before, right?
  12. Jittersthe.Clown

Will you stop clowning around and do something!?

Work trip is done. It was absolutely not a good fit for our company, but there was one good contact I made while there. We went to a steak house that I was told is the best in the city. Well, they weren't wrong. The Saturday after getting back, I had a craft show that JJ and I did well at. Some fun new pieces came out. I'll have to see if someone got pictures, because I did not. Went to Valleyfair on Mother's Day per Pizzazz's request. Much smaller crowd and a lot of fun. Met up with two other families that we knew out there. Might have to be a new tradition. Had 4 of JJ's friends over for his birthday party this past weekend. Took them to a Nerf arena and had a blast there. Then they came back and all stayed over night. At 1:30 am, I had to tell them it was lights out. Tired Sunday, but a good time was had by all. Pool is now open. Chemicals are working hard to get it clean and ready to be vacuumed, but I think we'll be ready for swimming by the end of this weekend. Now the weather has to warm up a bit. After a few weeks of slacking off, I got my ass back in gear and got up for a good workout this morning. Lifting heavy and getting my plank time back up there. Today was at the 1 minute, 15 second mark. Not too shabby. Finding that I am unable to meditate with the ringing in my ears. It's annoying and I am not feeling great about that, but I'll figure it out, I'm sure. Go forth, kick ass!

Act VIII - Harriet Makes Battle Plans

I really relate to The Resistance. I like the idea of breaking down these activities into their less-threatening component parts. It seems like an obvious strategy but it's one that's often eluded me as well.

[Sylvaa] Is An Athlete - Part II

Many condolences. I think it's good to give yourself a pass on Zero Week.
  17. Kishi

Yeah. There's only so much I can do, but the fact that I'm watchful for something helps my odds somewhat. * So. Monday was done. We finished making characters for the campaigns in Harnmaster; the games should officially start next week. "Kishi, are you saying it took you like a month to make characters in this system?" Yes, yes I am. Still got out in time to go ahead and hit the gym for some quick training. Yoga'd afterward. Felt good. No real plans for the night beyond the usual. I'd really like to get out on the mats and test some of the things I've been shadowboxing; let's see if we can make that happen.

Mike Wazowski: Settling Back into Routines (or "Routines")

I think this is a very good mindset to have. It looks like you're being very mindful of just a ton of stuff in your life. It's interesting to see how analytical of an approach you take to so many things. I completely agree about the tracking thing too, something I'm also trying to do more of.

    KCAleece Flees the Country

Well okay so I'm not technically counting yesterday, but that might be a good thing because nothing got done. Like, seriously, nothing. The toddler was upset and screaming (he has a really runny nose we've been blaming on allergies, but I'm mostly hoping it's not anything worse than that), dinner took much longer to cook than expected, and I was exhausted after a long and stupid meeting which mostly boiled down to "all of our failures are your fault". (my department's, not mine particularly) Even though that's not true, but who really wants to get into a nasty argument with your boss' boss when there's only one more week in the school year? I did pull the Spanish book I bought out from the bag (it's labeled as being for readers from 7-10 years old, so I was pretty spot on with a 3rd/4th grade reading level) and it's 106 pages, giving me a total page goal of 27 pages (rounded up). I read the first page out loud to my son yesterday before he lost interest but got so caught up in saying the words correctly I wasn't spending enough time processing what they meant, so I'm going to re-read it anyway. Aaaaand...that's literally all I got done last night. No harm no foul though, right? Focusing on making some forward progress today!
