    Flea has no idea what's going on

    Emailed LinkedIn guy after therapy and said the location doesn’t work for me but if he has anything closer to Boston please let me know. My therapist pointed out that it would be a hellish commute given the route I’d have to take, and I’m just not willing to even entertain that thought for a job I’m not excited about. Went to Target, for a flu shot and a $5 coupon for doing so, and then bought a ton of stuff while forgetting to use said coupon. But I did look at the ingredients of the boxed hair dye while I was there and I think I found one or two that I shouldn’t react to. I’ll google it and figure it out some day that isn’t today. Also did not find the eyeliner I wanted, so that goal is still on hold. Dishes have been done, food has been made and eaten, phone calls for various things have been made. Piles of paper and mail have been sorted. Various things that have been waiting to be donated forever have been shoved in a box. Things are happening. What hasn’t been done yet? The cover letter for this stupid application. Finished my resume and did the online portion of the application last night, decided I’d just do the cover letter today. And I don’t wanna. -__- I kinda just want to have a salad appear in front of me to inhale and then I want to go to sleep.

    I skipped running today. I wanted to go to yoga after work. I didn't feel like I had time to do both things, and I really thought the yoga would do me more good. I made it to yoga, but the class was just so-so. The Saturday class taught by this teacher is the best. The weeknight classes sometimes tend to be a little too easy. It was still good, but I felt like we didn't get too deep into anything. A couple people were injured, so I think the teacher scaled back a lot.

    Wish I could take credit, but it's a paraphrase of one of the mantras of the Nerd Fitness Academy diet. Not to shill or anything, but if you're up for it I recommend signing up for the Academy. The programs within are literally changing me for the better.

    Ooh, beer recommendations. You could also try Pacifico, IIRC it’s similar. If you want to get fancy try Ska Brewing Mexican Lager, if you want to save money there’s Bud Light Lime. If you happen to go to Utah have a Salt Flats Brewing Mexican Ale, it’s really good. Or, don’t listen to us and keep drinking what you already like.

    Wednesday w0d4 Today was not a busy day. I tried to keep things pretty chill in preparation for my big exam tomorrow. Board Review - reviewed 118 images, 3 primers, some notes, and one lecture NaNoWriMo - did a 20 minute sprint of 900+ words to add to my scene outline Coaching - intention mantra, journaling, emails, joy journaling I went to the podiatrist today who diagnosed me with flat feet (I already knew this) and posterior tibialis tendon dysfunction (suspected this). I need to wear sneakers all the time and get custom orthotics. Hopefully this will finally address my foot pain and avoid the need for surgery. Fingers crossed. There's also fancy braces if I need them when I get back into higher impact movements.

    Also met a dude who finished the Singapore Spartan yesterday and we pointed hin Did: 25 overhead squats 20 push ups  10 body weight rows 15 reverse crunches (x4)  Last set of push ups had to take a break at 10, otherwise we're all good. Doing jumping squats at 6 am might have been a tad inconsiderate noting all the bump, bump, bump. Sure I could have tried doing it in the toilet but my body weight rowing table is in the living room and opening and closing the toilet door would be rather noisy too.

    Decent running shoes are to running what a good chef knife is to cooking: it's the difference between "all the fun" (ALL OF IT!) and "oh, well, maybe I like it?". That being said, comfortable sneakers are good enough running shoes for me and can be used for enough other things to fit into even the fanciest shoes collections. I've had feet aches running with hybrid oxford shoes thinking they were, like most of my other gear, versatile enough to be one-size-fits-all for all my needs (while they actually applied undue pressure at the basis of my feet). I'd say go for it but if you realize you're getting some aches, do go out and treat yourself to a new pair of shoes fitting your specific needs and feets. Also this. So. Much. This. You've got this, go for it!

But drilling down into the "Reference & Learning" category for example I think it might be a little bit too kind Some reasons for only logging 6h 41m is that I've been away on a few different other things today... I had a 1 hour appointment with my therapist. I went to a 90 min long Tai Chi class. Had a meeting regarding my side hustle for like an hour I went grocery shopping for half an hour. My wife and I went to our equivalent of Home Depot to look at ceiling options for the rooms we're doing.

    So, goals... For my actual job I want to spend at least 5 hours per day, five days per week, on average in my code editor, on work Slack, or on work related web pages. So 25 hours per week. On top of that there will be meetings (very few of those thankfully) and time away from the computer thinking about difficult problems and solving shit by just taking a walk or something... I'm not really happy with this metric. Ass-on-chair time is a lousy way to measure performance/productivity. But it's the best I can come up with right now. Any other ideas anyone? For my side hustle I want to complete it before this challenge is over. So delivery before December :scary: They probably want me to do more whenever I'm done with what I'm doing. But this current task is all I've committed to, so that's all I'm aiming to finish. As for our house there are three rooms we're working on. My office-to-be, a new dining room, and redoing the living room. I've promised my wife we'll be able to host a New Years party in the dining room. And in order to get to the dining room you have to walk through the living room. So before this challenge is over my office needs to be usable, and the dining room needs to be usable. That leaves a month to do the living room. Notice how I said "usable". Not "done". I'm pretty sure there won't be time for any decorative moldings or casings/framings around doors and windows. Heck, there might not even be a door to frame between the dining room and the office yet...
