    Also, I did try out a new recipe, even though it's not very adventurous. I made a dry rub, and applied it to a rack of baby back ribs, that I wrapped loosely in aluminum foil and put into a 300F/150C oven for five hours. After the five hours, I brushed barbecue sauce over the ribs and increased the temperature to 350F/175C, and uncovered the ribs (also removed foil as needed). Oven baked for another 15-20 minutes. Ate with garlic bread and much enjoyment. Dry rub spice mix: 4 tablespoons brown sugar 1 tablespoon kosher salt 1/4-1/2 teaspoon black pepper 1 tablespoon garlic powder 1/2 tablespoon onion powder 1 tablespoon dried oregano 1/2 tablespoon or less of cayenne pepper (unless you like it HOT) 1-2 tablespoons chili powder The dry rub: A corner of the finished product:

    Bring It On was a great show altogether. The singing was great, the athletic feats were amazing, and apparently a kid broke her leg and finished performing. BUT. The lights were so bad it ruined the show. Triggered a migraine for me and made it almost impossible to watch or enjoy. They had LED lights dialed all the way up and pointed at the audience and fired them a lot. Unfortunately, this made it hard or impossible to see the performers. It was sad indeed because they were incredible.

    Gym - started Level 4 B workout today plus Kettlebell swings 5x10x10kg, 10x10x12kg, worked up a decent sweat and indulged in the happy hormones. Resumed my remote viewing practise and have levelled up there too - am more persistent and patient now and it results in even greater accuracy. Found a new website with over 100 targets so that is going to keep me busy for a while Diet - after that 'incident' with the turkey legs (opened the packet and they were so off that I nearly threw up, still within 3 days of expiry date, got a refund at least) my appetite for meat has taken a hammering and I am now pescatarian (I have been on and off Vegetarian all my life, purely based on preference and appetite) and will be embracing the 'survivor diet' (beans and rice) with vegies again, plus protein shakes.

    Also general FYI: for the next 6-7 weeks there’s a chance I’ll either be a lot quieter than usual or make more random bullshit posts. July 2nd was the day my mother went to the ER and started the whole downward spiral. Last year it caught me off guard and I spent July and August reliving all of the shitty memories and my perceived failures during the whole thing, because my brain is weird and I remember random dates so I super helpfully kept remembering “today last year was when she had that surgery,” “a year ago today she went to the nursing home,” “this is the day I did X and fucked it up.” This year I’m obviously aware of all that and hoping it won’t affect me as much. But of course I have no way of knowing until/unless it happens. And I know by now that I didn’t fuck up. There are things I wish I’d done differently, mostly for my own sake, but I did the best I could under the circumstances. I spent 6 weeks doing fucking everything I could in a shithole of a house, with my lifelong abusers, to take care of a woman who refused to accept that she was dying. And let’s be real, no matter what I did she was always going to find fault with me anyway. She can choke on her fucking ham and cheese sandwich in hell.

    Today's protein intake comes out like this: Breakfast smoothie: 22g from protein powder. 4g from peanut butter. 2g from kefir. Total: 28g protein. Lunch: (estimated because I couldn't actually measure it) 1/4 cup each chicken, asada, and al pastor, roughly 30g protein total. Dinner: 23g from 85g grilled chicken breast. Snacks: Two "aussie bites" at 2g protein each. (We will not count the slice of Genoese sponge with raspberry jam and whipped cream...) DAILY TOTAL: ~85g of protein! So if I add a snack of Greek yogurt or cottage cheese and have a second shake/add an extra half-scoop of protein powder to breakfast, I'll be around 100g.

    Yes I realize now my whole worry about people dismissing my talk of fat wasn't going to be a problem not only because you guys are cool with body composition talk but also because you can't see me I just get used to everyone reminding me that I'm small and giving me weird looks when I say I want to be more muscular. In my head I'm like 5'7" and 150lbs and mighty, and then sometimes I look in the mirror like "Gasp! I'm small and scrawny!" Thanks! I used to really enjoy experimenting with my diet and seeing how my body responded to it. Lately I've lost my oomph for that and not even my fear of cavities and dental work can stop me from trying a new Great British Baking Show recipe every while eliminating sugar entirely for a month or having green smoothies every day used to work well for me, this time I'm trying something new, diet-wise, that I think makes sense for my goals and where I'm at right now. (I baked a genoese sponge last night and tomorrow I'm making a nectarine-blueberry crumble....)

    SPACE FARM. To give you an idea how bright it is, that picture was not taken in a dark room. That was a bright, fully lit office. It currently contains two basil, one Thai basil, an oregano, three pairs of green onions, two mint, two rosemary, one lavender, one chamomile, two roses, a marigold, and a kale. The sprouting tray contains four lettuces, three cilantro, an arugula, a chard, two bok choy, and a replacement kale. Everything in there now is a garden cutting that I'm hoping will root, except for the green onions, which came out of a pot at home that I was neglecting, and the marigold and kale, which came directly out of my dirt garden, roots and all. (Kale is not happy out there this season, so I'm moving it indoors, and I have a gazillion tiny marigolds running around.) So far, the marigold is happiest. It went in totally wilted, and now it's strutting around like it owns the joint. Given that it inhabits the water port, maybe it does. Who knows if the cuttings will take. I've got a history of being one for three with rosemary, and this basil is being surprisingly difficult. Usually it loves being stuck in water and roots for fun, but this is my second attempt at basil in five days, and I'm not convinced this one is any happier. We'll see, basil is tremendously abundant right now. I'll keep trying till we get it. But even if a lot of this stuff needs more attempts, everything in there is free, and makes it look nice while the seeds get going, which was a lot of the point. It's also the decoration in my desk, so I didn't want to leave it empty when I had an easy source of cuttings. Also, in the dirt garden, my currant tomato and Japanese melon have flowers, and I put some rock soapwort seeds on all the bare dirt. It needs living mulch. The daystar is cruel. It burns.

    The Shakespeare in Love show was phenomenal. The Shakespeare was a stud. And hilarious. And could have convinced me he was 27. Everyone’s comedic timing was spot on. The set was beautiful. Those kids had some pipes on them. The costumes were great. It was the best show we’ve seen so far.
