Watch the Queen Conquer - Nic Tackles Her Goals

I've been using the II-Band wrist wraps from Bear Grips for years. They REALLY help. They cost about $20 (or less, depending on where you get them). If you are interested, I suggest the 12" length. Headed out to Quantico? I've visited a few times. It's not too bad out there, if you don't mind the traffic on I-95. It's a bit of a hike to the city (DC), but you can still enjoy the night life every now and again.

    Annyshay Leaves the Great Plateau

Annyshay heard one more sentence from the Goddess statue. "Go, and bring peace to Hyrule..." With that, the light from above the statue stopped glowing. Annyshay heard the familiar hail of the Old Man, but she couldn't see where he was until she looked to the ruined roof of the once grand temple. He was wreathed in the same eerie blue light that she had seen when he had disappeared by the fourth shrine. A shiver ran down Annyshay's spine. The Old Man laughed and bid Annyshay to join him on the roof, quickly! She wandered around the inside and outside of the temple until she found a ladder that was intact and climbed all the way to the roof. She ascended and then picked her way across the broken roof, careful not to step on any of the areas that looked less than stable. The Old Man waited in the front tower of the Temple, wreathed in blue flames. Annyshay approached him very carefully.

[Charlie Quinn] CrossFit II: Return of the Wanker

FIRST!!! *Edit* I just had to post that so I didn't get sniped on the first post lol. 1. Get to the end of this damn challenge! I have had a hell of a time doing this myself. My consistency on the boards has been shite at best, but, we all know life can be fickle, so, no ones gonna judge you for it. We're glad you're here! And I'm excited to hear about more Crossfit! Wolf

Snarky Tests her “If I could”s

Thursday went by quickly. I didn’t eat after dinner (yay!) I didnt exercise yesterday and I didnt spend any time alone. Dad was having a bad day so I sat and did embroidery while sat across from me and read and talked all day. It was nice, but also tiring. Mom had to go out yesterday and she’s going out today to a funeral and dad is staying home with me again. He seems a little better, but he's still having a rough time. I cant just sit with him all day though. I’m worn out.

@Rookie Thank you for the horse pics! they're beauties!
  12. Hey guys! First off, thanks to @Tanktimus the Encourager for getting @jonfirestar to give me a prompt. I didn't intend on taking a break for this long! My last challenge was February (!). The last few months have been mega busy with races, meet ups with UK Rangers @jonfirestar @Rhovaniel and @Jarric for races, D&D, climbing and beer. This month I ran my two longest races of the year: Rat Race Dirty Weekend and Nuclear Oblivion. Dirty Weekend was not a serious race at all and was basically 13 miles of mucking about with a bunch of like-minded nutters. Lots of beer was consumed both before (oops) and after the race and much fun was had. Oblivion was a different beast entirely. This was a OCR world championship qualifier and the aim was to do 3 laps to qualify. Unfortunately, this wasn't to be. The course was brutal. Without a doubt, it was the hardest OCR I've done to date. A last minute change to the rules of the race meant anyone intending to qualify had to either complete the obstacle or do a penalty (previously the rules were 'an honest attempt on all obstacles'). About three quarters of the way through the first lap I realised that at the speed I was going I wasn't going to make the cut off time for the last lap to manage three laps (and I wouldn't have the energy to do it either) so I surrendered my band so I wouldn't have to do the penalties and could then complete 2 laps. The Hubs and I plodded out the last lap together and although we were both exhausted, we enjoyed ourselves and were happy to pick up our special medals at the end. I've done a lot of thinking over the last few months and I've decided that I no longer want to do long distance OCR's or running events. I don't enjoy them as much as shorter distances (10-12km) and I definitely don't enjoy training for them. So Oblivion will probably be the last long distance event I do for a while. I've still got a few 10-15km races this year, but I'm going to treat these as 'fun' races, except for OCRWC, which, now I haven't qualified, I'll drop down to the Journey-woman wave. CROSSFIT WANKER: The Story So Far The main reason for being quite meh about long distances is, I've fallen out of love with running and in love with CrossFit. The last time I ran a challenge, I had been doing CF for about 2 months and was going twice a week. I've since increased my membership to three times a week. I still intend on running, but my main focus now is speed rather than endurance. I still have a goal of getting a sub 60 10k, which I should be able to get by the end of this year. CHALLENGE GOALS 1. Get to the end of this damn challenge! I don't want to disappear without warning again! The main reason I did so was my challenges felt really repetitive and I felt really boring constantly writing 'I did a run' or ' I did some lifting' TBH, this challenge won't be much different, but instead of putting pressure on myself to update daily or every other day, my minimum aim is a weekly update. 2. CrossFit 3 times a week, obvs I don't need to say much more. Book in the sessions. Go to the sessions. Try not to die. Job done 3. Run........sometimes I want - OK, not want, should - run twice a week so I can keep doing 10km races. The plan is to do one tempo or interval session and one long run. To start with 'long run' is anything above 3 miles. I don't intend on doing anything above 8 miles in a long run. The plan is to bring my distance all the way down and build it back up piece by piece.

Act VIII - Harriet Makes Battle Plans

I definitely have had positive results from turning off all notifications from e-mail and limiting my phone notifications. They do seem to creep back in, though. Thank you for typing all that out Would your dad accept a book recommendation? Everything you just described is covered in the book The Barbell Prescription, which was my principle inspiration for getting serious about strength training at age 50. I have employed physical therapists for shoulder impingement problems in the past and they were (in my case) actually helpful, but I do think in the case of older adults they are often way too cautious and unintentionally limit the potential growth/strength gains. This may or may not be related to a fear of liability if the patient is injured while strengthbuilding (which risk does exist, but I believe is much smaller than generally feared.)

JonFirestar, Battered, Bruised but not Broken

Update: Not much to say. I've taken the decision not to start the challenge proper until week1. Mainly because I'm struggling with panic attacks this week and I'm living in hope that the changes to my antidepressants will help with that soon. So rather than that I decided to post some of the pictures from RRDW. Our big camping meetup with @Rhovaniel, @Charlie_Quinn, @Jarric and @iatetheyeti. But since this year @Mr_Willes couldn't be with us we ended up doing the following. I think @SheriffWolfpool will appreciate these but fair warning they might be NSFW. There was probably beer involved when we came up with this idea! We did run with him for a while too

All I know that it's pretty technical to find the balance point and the shoulder positioning, but this is beyond my underpants collection. Whenever I've tried scorpions I found it really tricky to both spread my shoulders for stability and sink down for depth at the same time. However one thing that I noticed is that at the tipping point you're looking up pretty rapidly, I think that transition throws you off. I think it could be an idea to not try to hit full depth but work on longer holds just before the tipping point to build up that very specific strength. Good luck at the interview!!!! I'm sure you'll smash it!

    Wobbegong: A Creature of Habit

YOU GUYS I BEAT MINERVA I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!! Actually I'm so hopped up on adrenaline I'm gonna take my walk after posting this, yikes, that was a scary twenty minutes Anyway, defeating her prompts your SOLDIER buddy Kunsel to send Zack an email, which says Normally, Minerva is an end-game boss. Most players don't challenge her until they have access to end-game equipment, but that also means they're at the end of the game plot-wise, a time when Zack is on the run after having been missing, presumed KIA for five years. Normally that timeline causes this message to imply Kunsel suspects you're alive and is on your side (at a time when everyone else you know is out to kill you). But I took on Minerva early. I haven't left Midgar yet. I got this message and was like, "Bro, I'm in the lobby, come downstairs, let's get a beer and chat about it. What do you mean by 'return,' anyway? I only went out to build my girlfriend a flower cart, I haven't been gone that long. We saw each other this morning. Wait, is this about my recent trip to Costa del Sol? I earned that vacation, man." Idk, it seemed very funny at the time. I'm going for that walk now.

Tuesday Daily Persian? YES (BBC Persian, stories from Shahnameh) Wednesday REST day Daily Persian? Oops NOPE => why? Postponed throughout the day and in the evening, I fell asleep super quickly. No excuse really... Thursday P2 custom + misc In the morning? NOPE Daily Persian? YES (stories from Shahnameh) I got up super early (~4h30), did some coding, laid down to read and fell asleep at ~10-11am, woke up past noon... I did my session later in the afternoon. Which was ok but I need to find some prep exercise for lever → straddle hold reps, the warm-up I do for those is not enough. Friday Backbends and HS deload + misc In the morning? YES Daily Persian? Not yet I changed a bit my backbends drills because I'm getting a bit meh-ed by camel. I did more cobra variations and bridge to elbows instead. I also worked on my HS banana / scorpion. I find it so difficult. There is a hairy balancing point where I don't have enough strength somewhere to control hip extension and the fold. It's the same on elbows. On elbows I can hold a bit longer these days, but in HS it's very short lived. And left arm really wants to bend, little bugger. Here is a visual: And I have my tech interview this afternoon. I have to buffer some time to feel a bit grounded / prepared / calm enough (back bending and inverting already helped a fair bit). Persian will have to wait.

Here in South Africa we never use the word "melt". Shops that sell sandwiches call it either toasted or grilled, but mostly toasted. And if there is only cheese, we call it a toasted cheese. Lol, "ham melt" makes me think that the ham is melting in the sandwich. Each to their own I say, as long as you know what you are getting in the end, and enjoy it! "Elke diertjie, sy plesiertjie". (Literally translated means let each little animal have his little pleasure).
