A friend took this photo of Pietermaritzburg (Pmb) from World's View, a little hill on the outskirts of town. This is just the one side, basically. There are actually more to all the sides, but city centre proper has more buildings to the left of this photo. Our suburb would be more to the bottom right hand side, way outside the photo's edge.

Hope your brother is ok. Maybe the new girlfriend doesn't want to share, or come with him because I think you mentioned you were friends with the old girlfriend? That logo is awesome! I wouldn't mind wearing a t-shirt like that at all.

    elizevdmerwe - It's about nr.23 & Countdown...8

Yip, why I thought that for now I'll just clean the house out a bit. The really big decisions we'll keep for closer to the time, when we know for a fact that Brandt has a job, and we'll know when we have to move by. So far it looks like we have three options with regards to moving and costs of moving: Rent a 40ft container, and take a car, and basically everything we want to, with. It is about R120 000/NZ$12 000 (US$8 000), and takes roughly 3 months (depending on when you load and arrive in NZ). The ship only goes so often to NZ. Rent a 20ft container, and take NO car, but all the big things like beds, w.machine, dryer, fridge, freezer, and a lot of boxes with everything we should need. Also takes about 3 months, and costs between NZ$6000-NZ$8000. Sell everything and only take a small Move It Cube, <10ft. Is pricy, and you can't take much over. But can be arranged for basically anytime. So you won't have to wait for your stuff. We can also put as much as possible in the 4x30kg suitcases that we can fly with. Normally about 20-25kg, but if you prove that you are emigrating then Qantas and Emirates allow you up to 30kg suitcases per person. So chances are that we'll take the 20ft container option and load as much as possible in there, especially of the big stuff, like w.machine, tumble dryer, fridge, freezer, and all Brandt's tools. Around Jan/Feb we looked up what can be bought for NZ$12 000 (instead of the big container), and we can buy a small car and some of the necessary things, but not everything that you can load into a 40ft container. If we take the 20ft container and use the price difference on a car in NZ it seems to work out most cost effectively. But we can only make a final decision as we get proper quotes, and not work on estimations. With regards to Brandt's sporting gear: it might be cheaper to have it inspected and sanitized, than to replace it. They will just be older, maybe not as good/safe?, and NZ makes you pay a fine on bringing certain 'prohibited' things into the country: scuba/spear diving gear (contamination with other ocean life), wooden furniture (again some kind of contamination scare, insects, borers?), dog baskets and blankets (fleas, etc. scare), no plants (to protect their indigenous plants), no animal products, etc. They have a list, but no specified penalty fee that I could see. They just mentioned a customs/border inspection will be done and charged for, and a penalty will be charged for prohibited items. We were discussing some things Friday night. Brandt then mentioned that he'd realised that if a job comes up where the company is prepared to pay either Visa applications and/or the move, he just has to take it, because those offers come around rarely, and would save us a lot of money. Then he can't wait till end of the year, he has to grab the job, if possible. I've mentioned it to him before, but he didn't answer me then.

  13. I was thinking of assigning 1 point for each 10 minutes spent in whatever activity. But then, yes, as you point out, things that are short but hard to do, like a cold shower, give a small reward in points... Maybe I'll just stick to my time measurement for this challenge, and add the traditional stats for my character, and think of a different system later if this one doesn't get me where I want. Nice spreadsheet. I like the colors, makes it clearer to read than the usual grey/white ones.

Donner in fresh naan or pita with loads of lettuce and a spicy sauce .... oh no I started drooling It's almost definitely worse than mince or mystery meat, especially around here where it is a literal fast food, but its all halal so it can't be that bad, right? Maybe I should just keep it as a once every few months thing for when I come back home.

  18. Day... Wait, did I do one for Thursday? Day -4 Not much. In fact just an hour or so of walking but that doesn't count. I'm a mammal. Mammals are supposed to walk. Yes whales, yes bats, even you. All paleo. Day - 3 Short, fast run and all paleo Caught myself doing my weird repetitive habits and checked it. I'm definitely managing to keep myself reined in better than normal.

Where did all the adamantium go?

I'm not waiting until monday. I'll use these two days to see how I feel about tracking all this. 19.4.19 ACTIONS TIME SPENT SENSATIONS AND FEELINGS YOGA 5' Feeling lazy at the beginning. At the end, body felt nice from having moved. MUSIC PRACTICE HANGING. PUSHING. WORKING OUT ICELANDIC 20' The video was open in one of my tabs so I played it without much thinking. I enjoyed it because I could understand almost everything (with subs). I didn't know all the vocabulary but could deduce most of the unknown words from context. Feeling proud afterwards. WRITING 15' I thought the exercise was silly and that I didn't know how to do it anyway. While writing, the main thought was that it was cheesy. Reading it when finished made me think it was a bit funny and made me chuckle. GYM STRETCHING 2' Did them during with yoga, so same reflection. Neck and shoulders. OUTDOORS 1h Before I left I was feeling bored and anxious. I had began to numbly refresh NF site. During the walk I felt really good, the air was cold but nice. There was a storm that gave interesting colors to the fields and the sky. Coming back I was tired but in better mood. READING 10' Unsure about reading before bed. I want to like the book I'm reading, but the writing style is sticky. I blame the translator, sincerely. Afterwards, once again, liking the story and the characters but hating the style. Still, was nice. SKETCHING WH BREATHING BREATHING. MEDITATION Total time: 1h52. Also did some chores and most of the time spent at the computer was at the low table. I don't know about the table format... I need to use a small font to avoid using a lot of space, but maybe is not comfortable to read this way. What do you think, guys? Is it better if I forget the boxes and just write? I just checked on my phone and doesn't feel supersmall, but both there and at the computer I have a feeling of relief in my eyes when I come back to the normal font.

Was out for a spontaneous, sunset/moonrise trip to the beach of my childhood last night. So worth it! I went alone, and I thought I'd packed the matches but didn't, but here, have a look see. It was so very beautiful. I complied with all my fasting shennanigans, though I wasn't sure that I would be able to (30h fast is a beast). But I did it and I am stronger for it. Gotta work this afternoon/evening, but it will be ok. Thought hubby and I were close to done with each other. He disagrees. Vehemently. Hope. Funny thing, hope. So far so good. Sat work till 6:30p.m. Then off until Tue 9a.m. looking forward to "going back to normal" (whatever that may mean) next week when school resumes. Can't find my meditation pillow or the one book of starhawk I really want to find. Basement? Inlaws? Harumpf. Anyway, here have some April full moon sunset moonrise pictures. send from my new phone, bear with me.

Where did all the adamantium go?

This is the main point of the challenge. I'm already quite active, but everything feels dull. I hope that focusing on the immediate result of the action will help me feel more positive. You are very welcome!
  24. Sorry to sound daft but I'm not even sure who the top one's meant to be... Death Star employee whose lack of faith is disturbing is my best guess but I'm not sure... I had a look at some star wars running t-shirts on amazon, ebay, etsy, and some looked pretty good but (a) most of the best ones are from the US and I'm not sure they'd reach me in time and anyway, (b) despite being billed as running shirts they seemed to be made of material that did not sound comfortable to run in. Hmm...

DaemonCorax becomes less round (incubating pt. 6)

Having a little baby often brings up a whole bunch of buried issues (especially if you have/had a difficult relationship with your parents and/or childhood) and you have no time or sleep to process the onslaught. It can be pretty rough. I'm glad you're already seeing someone--I hope it will help keep that to a minimum so you can enjoy your new little sidekick.
