It's that pigskin throwing, gatorade dumping, endzone grooving time of the year again.  It's also the time to pretend we're billionaires and can trade players like they're playground candy.

 

And it's time to TRASH TALK.

I may or may not have spammed all the guild chat threads with a plea for more participants. If I get in trouble for this, I want everyone to know that somehow it's actually all @Grumble 's fault. I'm not sure how yet, but I'll find a way to pin it on him.

I haven't played fantasy football before but I love watching regular football. By which I mean I'm sure I'll wipe the floor with everyone, even though I don't 100% understand how it works :-)

Serious question: Can we perhaps maybe not have playoff games during Week 17? Every NFL team out there rests their starters that week, which means a lot of fantasy team rosters are suddenly lacking active players. Week 15 and 16 for playoffs, or 14-16, seems like it would be more fun.

Hello everyone.

 

First post. Happy to be here and thanks for having me! Please just go ahead and call me Jim. My team is "My Johnson Ertz" in case anyone wants to do trades and stuff and wants to talk about them. (I've already sent a trade offer to "Matt's Awesome Team.")

 

I'm a "+1" to the idea of adjusting the regular season/playoffs to run through week 16.

 

One thing that I've seen work well in the past:

 

1. Regular season runs weeks 1-12

2. Four teams make the playoffs

3. Two week matchups in the playoffs. Matchup 1 goes weeks 13 and 14. Matchup two goes weeks 15 and 16.

 

I kind of think it works well because of two reasons. First, it avoids the problem that Scaly mentioned of teams resting starters week 17. Second, it makes it more likely that the best overall team wins during the playoff matchups by having the matchups take place over two weeks, therefore smoothing out one week variances a bit.

I'd like to also thank the people who helped organize this. It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun and I'm hopeful we might be able to make it an annual thing.

2-3 weeks is the expectation. Unless that changed today.

Like I said, unconfirmed at this point.

What’s interesting here is that the old Sammy probably would have forced things if thrust into this situation, having to replace his team’s biggest threat. The new Sammy, in his mind, is far more prepared for the challenge.
