Steve@265andfalling
Sonic. The. Hedgehog. 4. I haven't read Nintendo Power since I was in elementary school, but when I was checking out at the grocery store and saw a copy at the register. It bold letters at the top of the cover it says "Sonic 4!" so I had to buy it. Apparently Sega is gettin' all nostalgic and releasing a Sonic that plays out alot like the original 3 (which. were. awesome). It's supposed to be downloadable on Wii (and I think xbox live) at some point this year. I'm excited, but I don't like that it's apparently being broken down into Episodes, with Episode I only having 4 zones to play through. Regardless, hells yeah I'll be getting this! Sethbacca
Is this the one that is going to be another side scroller? Bout time they return to their roots, the 3d Sonics were generally pretty awful. Quote Link to comment
Steve@265andfalling
Yeah, its a side scoller..and yeah, the 3d ones were TERRIBLE. Old school Sonic FTW Quote Link to comment
Robzilla1983
There's been a new Mega Man game (or 2?) released in much the same fashion. Old school NES graphics, but as downloadable content through the Wii (I think... maybe XBox, or both, I dunno). I've been tempted, but then I remember how hard the original Mega Man games are and I don't feel like torturing myself Quote Link to comment
jacobmovingfwd
Shadow Complex on XBL is supposed to be the conceptual twin of Metroid; I never played Metroid (didn't get into vidgames till college), but I love Shadow Complex. It's a great, long game, and well worth the $15. Specifically, it's what they call a "3D sidescroller". Your character only moves in 2D, but the environment is 3D. Sometimes enemies are farther in the depth of field, but the aiming accounts for that fairly well. It has the same platform and puzzle style that Metroid had, with you needing to explore the entire map multiple times, and getting to different difficulty levels as you upgrade your weapons. There's doors that you can break with your guns, then you go back and clear doors that require grenades, then rockets, etc etc. The story is a little over the top, but it's really fun overall. I love how badass you end up looking!
