Thomas
First off, because I know lots of nerdfitness rebels are in Atlanta, I wanted to promote the fact that I'm going to be in the Semifinals for the Dogwood festival homegrown comedy challenge this wednesday, April 14th at the Laughing Skull Lounge. Tickets available at http://www.vortexcomedy.comHere's a clip from the first round. (I can't get it to embed, so there's the link.)So that's my creative outlet. What do you do? Any performers here? Writers? People with etsy stores? Show us what you got. Quote Link to comment
Steve
Wow, um...how to put this nicely.... Dude, you're freaking hilarious! That was awesome. When i think "amateur stand up comedian" I couldn't help but think you'd be terrible...but that was great. Well done sir. So do you really have a black friend? -S Quote Rebel Leader. Thomas
Several, actually, although I do have one that most of the song was based off of. It was her griping about being called african-american when she's Jamaican that inspired the bit. Yes, your average amateur stand-up is kind of a painful thing to watch, at least until they've got about 20 sets under their belt and either learn or have given up. I'd like to think I'm in the upper percentile. If I win at this Wednesday's show, I'll be doing a set at the Dogwood festival this Friday too. I'll keep you posted. Quote Link to comment
robbersean
I'm an improv comedy performer. I live in Chicago, and perform mostly here http://www.chicago.ioimprov.com. The theater has a ton of famous alumni, including (but definitely not limited to) Tina Fey, Seth Meyers, Chris Farley, and Jack McBrayer. I play with a team called Mike Helicopter, and I'm also in a show called Improvised Star Trek which is exactly what it sounds like.My background is in theater. I have a degree in Theater from the University of Massachusetts, but again, I primarily do improv comedy now.Oh!This is me: Comedic nerd fitness enthusiasts forever! Quote Link to comment
Thomas
I can dig it. Palpable "the office" style awkwardness is really hard to do, but that was pretty good. Did you improvise that, or was it a scripted bit that came from some improv? Quote Link to comment
robbersean
Completely improvised. Quote Link to comment
