No more excuses, Flick gets fit!

Recommended Posts

Hiya! I'm Flick, 22 years old, recent university graduate and living just outside London, England.

Four years of constant studying and socialising have caught up on me and my fitness levels have taken a nosedive to the point that they're practically non-existent. I wouldn't describe myself as overweight, as I'm 5'4 and around 124lbs, but I'm in rubbish shape. That's why I'm here!

A friend recommended this site to me a few weeks ago and I've spent my time lurking on the forums, reading articles and the blog and I've even stated doing the Beginner Body Weight Workout every other day.  I actually found it moderately okay! I was sweating like a pig by the end of it, which I'm partly blaming on the heat, and the next few days my muscles ached all over, but it felt good! Really good!

Hoping to start training with free weights once I get a bit more competent at the Beginning Body Weight Workout and progress from there. I want to combine this with some running in the hopes that within a year or so I can successfully run the Windsor Half Marathon on behalf of a charity that's close to my heart. Been trying the whole Paleo thing now for the last 5 days and so far so good, only had one slip and gave into some legumes, but I like to think it could have been worse... could have been cake!

I am a sugar fiend, sodas are my weakness. I work evenings in a bar with unlimited access to Pepsi and Fanta on shift, which means that I'm probably heading for rotting teeth and diabetes. The drinks will be the hardest thing to cut out, but I hope they'll make the biggest difference. So here we go...

No excuses, full accountability, might even start a blog about it... here goes nothing! Words of advice are always appreciated :)

I will get into shape!

Thanks for reading :)

Flick.

Welcome! I am new around here too - and noticed we are similar in size and plans for making changes =) I am starting the beginners body weight circuit myself. Good luck with the half marathon goal! It's good that you have a specific goal like that, with a good reason behind it to motivate you. Also good luck with the sugar, it's hard but so worth it.
