mzmtg's 60-day PLP log

Inspired by Steve, I'm embarking on the 60-day PLP challenge.

Since I can't quite knock out 10 pullups regularly, I'm starting at 1 rep for each exercise (sort of, see below).

I actually started yesterday, 3/14, so today is Day 2.

Yesterday I did:

44 pullups (This is part of my regular weekly program, I did 8 sets: 9 reps, 8, 6, 6, 5, 4, 3, and 3)

1 pushup

1 reverse lunge

Today I did:

2 pullups

2 pushups

2 reverse lunges

I have access to plenty of equipment for pullup grip variations on my regular gym days.  On weekends, working out at home, the back porch is the best I've got, but it works:

8 pull ups

8 wide push ups

8 lunges

It looks like 8 pull ups is about the limit of my abilities straight out of the house in the morning with no warm up.  The first 6 came easy, but 7 & 8 were a struggle.

The porch pull ups are easier now thanks to some pieces of webbing and my trusty multi-purpose 36" pipe:

Does this mean you're going to split it up into sets of 8, or go for a warm up?

One of my goals in all this is to work up to doing sets of 20 pullups.  I’ve hit 9 and 10 consecutively in the recent past.

My plan is to go to failure on each set as necessary every day going forward.  Warming up a little will help.

Nice! MacGyver would be proud  ;)
