My name is Patrick. I am 40 and a single full time father of a 12 year old active boy. I was very athletic until I had to begin to ride a desk. I want to get back in shape so I can play hockey and still breath. I am about 90 lbs overweight at the moment. I have tried several diets over the years. Managed to lose 30 pounds on my own so far. I miss my high school water polo coach yelling at me. That is why I am here. To join this society to find my coach to keep me motivated. And to learn about the Paleo diet.

So hello to all. Any advice for someone just beginning? I am reading everything I can find. I have already started cutting things out of my eating habits just to start.

Welcome, and you've already made some good progress already.

NF is divided into "guilds" each of which is focused on different types of exercise.  If you know what types of things you are interested in (weight lifting, running, martial arts) you can start reading and asking questions in the appropriate place.  We tend to work in 6 week "challenges", where we each set goals for ourselves and encourage each other.  Look around and ask questions.

Warriors don't count reps and sets. They count tons.

Welcome on board. It sounds like you might get a lot out of joining in on the next challenge. They're a great way of focusing your attention on making positive changes.
