SingingSoldier
Hey there, I'm SingingSoldier,a human pseudo-scout hoping to transition to a mix of warrior, ranger, and monk. I am a college student that will be joining the NROTC program next semester after the semester is over. I tried Air Force, and I knew I wanted to be in a different branch after the first semester, then took a semester off to deal with the death of my grandfather. I am moving on and honoring him by joining the same branch as he did. My goals are to become the best warrior, ranger, monk hybrid I can be, and also to continue in my singing and hopefully become a great musician/producer after serving. My journey started in high school when I joined track and cross-country, and never stopped running since. I have started the monk portion by joining the judo team on campus, which I really like and can't wait to do more with. I have also started to do some weightlifting, but I am having trouble figuring out what kind of program i should do. I like aspects of the Daniel Craig and Gerrard Butler blogs on the main nerdfitness site. Suggestions? Link to comment
Chris-Tien Jinn
Welcome to the Rebellion!! I think the type of program will depend upon your goals. Pop down to the programming thread and ask there: http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/forum/204-programming/ Level 63 Human ... Kvothe Gainskiller
I would start by building a foundation of strength. This will benefit you across all three classes. Also, because of your desire to be a monk, I would put the emphasis on explosive lifts and movements, such as box jumps, oly lifts, and upper-body plyometrics. The other thing you will want to consider is specializing. It's fine to be a hybrid, but very few people can perform equally in all classes. You may need to decide which classes are more important. Only then will you be able to build a program that fits your goals. I translate things into Latin. SingingSoldier
I definitely want to focus on becoming proficient for judo, mainly because I want to go to judo nationals with the team next year. While I like lifting, I am definitely leaning towards the idea of the unarmed ranger. So less heavy lifting, more plyos and judo practice is what I am thinking. Edit: I may also start Tae Kwon Do again in the fall. I practiced through out elementary and middle school and to this day I still regret not sticking with it and getting my black belt. I was red, testing for brown when I stopped. Link to comment
Why not?
Welcome to the Rebellion! My condolences on your grandfather. By the way, am I correct in assuming that NROTC is Naval ROTC? Shouldn't you be called SingingSeaman?
