Kvothe Gainskiller Posted May 21, 2014 Report Posted May 21, 2014 Not really. But I am starting my daily battle log. When I first joined NF ninety-one posts ago, I didn't want to start it, but . I started out doing stupid bodypart splits and slowly transitioned into real strength training as I learned more. I've trained on and off for the last few years, but I only got serious about seven months ago. The transition to true strength happened about halfway through that period. Nothing special. Weekends are hiking or conditioning, just in order to stay active. My diet is basically paleo, but with milk and rice. So...not paleo at all. Anyway, my main problem is getting enough calories. I'm guessing about a third of what I eat just passes through without giving me anything. That's why I drink milk and eat almond butter for so many of my calories; these things are easier to absorb. I also find that if I'm dehydrated by even a little, I can't perform at all. One of my big things recently is just trying to drink two gallons of water a day, about half of that from milk. Anyway, I'm rambling, look to the next post. I'll update this post as I PR, but you'll also see it in the post for that given day. I translate things into Latin. After the broken set, I lowered the weight just a little, but I was already spent. After failing for five minutes to get those two other reps, I decided to cut my losses and finish up the reps in one set of lower weight. I've been having some trouble with my lockout, so I wanted to do some rack pulls, but the only rack was being used. By one guy. For an hour. After doing the other assistance exercises, I realized that rack pulls weren't going to do anything at that point, and I did my hyperextensions and got out. I might actually include them more often, but I'll use a band next time. I also want to include some KB work on my deadlift day. I translate things into Latin. Shortgorilla Posted May 21, 2014 Report Posted May 21, 2014 Nice lifts. I really like your program. I look forward to seeing you become more awesome. That's one rep. The goal isn't to get a lockout, but to just get it onto the other side of my head. I don't have much trouble with the lockout; it's the initial press that gets me, so these ought to help. The weighted dip was a big part of my program earlier, but the weight has dropped since I replaced it with OHP, and I'm trying to get it back to where it was. During the handstand practice, I tried a HSPU on a whim, and I made a controlled descent before I fell flat on my back. I can do them on a wall when I haven't done OHP first, so the main thing is keeping my balance throughout the movement. I'm getting closer. I translate things into Latin. Anyway, a girl who was a total bitch to me in middle school (no, I don't hold grudges; why do you ask?) came in to the gym as I was finishing up my 3x5 and was watching me, so I slapped on a pair of 25s and did another rep. I feel that I could have done another one, but I didn't. That equals my former max lift, so with the three heavy sets before it, I'm guessing my 1RM is above my 315 goal. I'll go for a PR next week. The mobility work was actually a funny occurrence. Despite my gym being a globo-gym, the owner is pretty chill. He was teaching a trainer-in-training (that sounded a lot better in my head) some mobility work, and I joined in. The mobility work evolved into some lighthearted competition when one trainer (a former gymnast) did a press-to-handstand, I told her that "gymnasts can't jump for shit," the owner asked what my box jump was, and this happened. I actually don't know the height, but I've only ever done it with the red boxes before, so putting the gray one on is a PR. I've had more energy this week than I have in the last two weeks combined. I'm attributing it to my increased water intake. I translate things into Latin.
