seripth
Sure, starting off with such a title may seem like a downer (at least to Firefly fans), but I look at it like this: Mal wouldn't give up. Ever. Out-manned, out-gunned, and what does he do? Takes control and shoots down a plane! In the years that follow, he still finds Alliance friendly bars to drink at and stand up for what he believes in. That is how I want to be. Weight loss for me has always (see also past 8 years) been an uphill battle, with me being in a ditch before the hill even began. At least that was how I saw it. But no more, I say! It is time to stand up for what I believe in, and that is in living a longer, healthier life with my new wife and being the best me that I can be. Mal is a bit of a personal hero of mine. Well, maybe Nathan Fillion is my hero. Either way, a smart-mouthed, sarcastic SOB with a never quit attitude. Up until recently, I had two out of three, and Meat Loaf taught me at a young age that "Two Outta Three Ain't Bad". Now, I love me some Meat Loaf, but I figure if two outta three ain't bad, then three outta three has gotta be better. So onward to betterness! Time to put on my suspenders and brown coat (or Cap'n Hammer shirt, depends on what smells the least funky) and lose some weight! The boring stats-stuff: Age: 26, for a few more weeks. Weight: 280. Not my worst (300), but nowhere near my goal. Short goal: 260. Twenty pounds. Totally do-able. My Christmas present to myself. BIG goal: 215. Five pounds less than I weighed in high school. Sure I could aim for less, but I figures thems bragging rights. Current routine: NF Beginner's Body Weight Exercises done every other day. Will log the two that I have completed after this post. Also current: No set diet, but making healthier choices more often than not. Toying with the idea of Intermittent Fasting. I will have a starting picture up soon, once I find a flattering angle. Haha, no, but seriously, I will have one up by Thor's Day. Quote Link to comment

Oogiem
Mal is a bit of a personal hero of mine. Well, maybe Nathan Fillion is my hero. Either way, a smart-mouthed, sarcastic SOB with a never quit attitude. Love it! BTW Castle is great fun if you like Nathan. Esp the Firefly references he works into most of the shows. Hubby & I each have lovely brown t-shirts from Tee Fury with a large gun and the phrase I aim to Misbehave on them ;-) One of these days I'll wear it while wearing a sidearm. Not concealed, out in the open will be just fine..... Quote Oogie McGuire Black Sheep Shepherdess STR 4.25 | DEX 4.5 | STA 3.75 | CON 3 | WIS 4.75 | CHA 1 Link to comment
seripth
Castle is great fun! Been following it since about three episodes in. I loved his Halloween costume, Space Cowboy. I got out of the habit of checking Tee Fury, and now I regret it! That shirts sounds super cool. When you wear your sidearm, be sure to wear it low :-) Quote Link to comment

seripth
Took a big step today....signed up for the on-ramp course at my local Crossfit. Eight classes over four weeks, and then I'll see where I am. I've joined gyms in the past, but this time was a big investment for me. I'm still going to keep up with my NFBW exercises through this week and next Monday, and see how I feel after Crossfit on Tuesday. I'm going to take a notepad with me to Crossfit so's I can take notes and keep my Battle Log updated. Mostly excited, and a little nervous. Serenity Valley will be ours! Quote Link to comment

Music: The Creepshow - Sell Your Soul Current weight: 280 Goals for next time(s): Stay with two circuits so as to not kill my legs before the Crossfit On-ramp. Quicker time, less panting. seripth
No exercise yesterday. Combination of not wanting to kill myself before crossfit today and fail. But mostly fail. Anyways, went to my first crossfit on ramp course tonight. It was fun, and kicked my butt a little. Push ups and I do not get along very well, and we met in force tonight. Talk about jelly arms! But I made it through tonights class, and finished the brief WOD that they gave us. So I say it was a win! One step closer to winning the Battle! Quote Link to comment
seripth
Weigh in this morning - 275. Go me! Past 2.5 days been switching my diet to about 80% paleo, so I know a lot of the initial weight loss is going to be from lack of bread and bread type foods that insist on holding water and just generally taking up space.Shoulders are still sore from crossfit on Tuesday, but super excited to go back tomorrow! I'll let everyone here know how that goes sometime tomorrow night.Tomorrow: Crossfit On Ramp Class 2 - www.crossfitoceanislebeach.com/index.php/get-started/on-ramp/Friday: Weigh InSaturday: NF Beginner Body Weight Workout Quote Link to comment
seripth
Weigh in - 272 Crossfit yesterday was a lot of fun! We worked on the press, push press, and push jerk. I did pretty well with my form. Downside: T-rexing it today. My arms were still sore from Tuesday, and now they don't want to bend. Time to get out the ice! Still going to do the NF BBWW on Saturday, just might have to skip the push ups and rows. All depends on if my arms are working or not. Tomorrow: NF BBWW Monday: Weigh in Tuesday: Crossfit On Ramp Class 3 - Deadlifts and Concept 2 Rower Quote Link to comment
seripth
Good morning! Just got back from my first run! Well, to be fair, it was more like a first jogging alternated with walking, but I finished my goal of 1.5 miles! And in only 20min 16 sec! I'm pretty happy with that. Not happy with missing my workout Saturday, but it happens. I moved on and hit the pavement this morning. Small victories! I tried to get my roommates to go with me this morning, but they were digging on the sleeping idea. Maybe next time, they say. Who knows? Not me. All I know is that I can't hold myself accountable for their health, nor let their wanting to sleep keep me from attaining my health goals. Goals for this week: Run(or jog or walk) on Wednesday and Friday, and go to my Crossfit on ramp courses on Tuesday and Thursday. I know that I will make the crossfit classes(great thing about paying for something-absolutely no point in skipping it), so the challenge will be getting my butt out of bed to go running before work. One day down, two more to go. Easy Peasy. Weigh In: 273...darn weekends, lol Quote Link to comment
seripth
Crossfit today! Practicing deadlifts and the rowing machine. Roughly 45 deadlifts with 35lbs. WOD: 500m row, 25 air squats. Completed in 2min 57sec. Didn't take into account the squats, so pushed myself a little too hard on the rowing machine. Made squats tough. Got through 'em, tho. Weigh in tomorrow, and running 1.5 miles before work. Quote Link to comment
seripth
Ran 1.5 miles in 20:04! A whole 12 seconds faster! Tomorrow: Crossfit - The snatch and Burgener Warm-up Friday: Run 1.5 miles and weigh in. Quote Link to comment
