LOL I am with Loren on that one! I love any movie where humans overcome their situations. My favorite is Shawshank Redemption, but that is more mental really. Your documentaries sound pretty stellar though! I can't remember the name of it but I once watched a documentary where a wheelchair bound man wanted to do the NYC marathon and so his dad pushed him the whole way. Killer!

Hotel Rwanda

Remember the Titans

The Blind Side

Blood Diamond

Milk

Children of Men

^Most of them are really sad, but they motivate me like no other. I like stories where people fight against injustice or make a change in the world. Certain things make me just want to punch people out of anger, but then when things get better I feel all happy and relieved.

As a Philadelphian, Rocky does it every time. On a weekly basis, Biggest Loser does it for me every time. I see them getting their asses kicked and I jump up and start working out, even if I was already at the gym. It usually results in at least 100 squats and push ups.

This is going to sound silly, but "American Beauty." Watching Lester Burnham transform himself, realistic or not, is inspiring. That movie actually inspired me to start running, in a way, because it showed that even in your 30s or 40s, and as a total non-athlete, you can still run. (For a real-life example I look to John "The Penguin" Bingham.) One of my goals is to drop enough body fat to see my muscles again (no one can tell me that I don't have muscles when I can still carry my 7 yo son up a flight of stairs) and to help with my running. I reason that my running will benefit if I'm not lugging an extra 70+ lbs around the course.

Come on, still no mention of Rocky IV?

I said Rocky, and Rocky 4 is terrible and should be deleted.

Fight Club

The legend of Bagger Vance

The Natural

Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story

The Last Samurai (even though I generally avoid anything with Tom Cruise in it)

Batman: Year One (because it was so faithful to the original comic)

....and basically every flick Steve named on the site. :-)

I might be able to agree with you plot-wise solely because of the robot. But come on, the training montages are top notch in 4.

Off the top of my head, 300 and Cool Runnings get me all sort of amped to go be better and kick ass.
