I'm going on an adventure!

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

It's time to finally take a stand against my laziness and banished it once more into the fires of mount doom!

So a little about me. This will be the second time I start my adventure. In the past I have been quite successful in losing weight I had gained living the uni lifestyle. I managed to lose about 4.5 stone taking me to a weight of 12.5 stone (175 lbs). I achieved this by taking up running and generally just making better food choices. For a brief period I tried the 5:2 intermittent fasting diet which whilst worked made me so damn tired!

All was going well then I moved into my own place and well i discovered Netflix and video games again and became a secret eater (If no one can see me eat it... it doesn't count!). Work also became a lot busier so I didn't make time to exercise and the takeaways/ready meals crept back into my lifestyle. Over a period of 18 months i have got back to 16 stone (224 lbs) which I was pretty disgusted with myself about but now I've decided enough is enough! Time to make a stand once again!

I will be trying to pick up my old good habits again to achieve the weight-loss. The main thing I remember was just being consistent over a period of time and it all comes together! (Hopefully..) I definitely know this is easier sad then done but i feel motivated to go on this journey once again and prove people wrong once more!

My Goal

This simple to get back to 13 stone and all the benefits that i found came with being fitter and healthier.

How will this be achieved?

Start Running 3 times a week (Follow a couch to 5k programme to avoid over doing it to begin with)

NF Bodyweight routine 2-3 times a week

Eat Fresh foods and avoid pre-prepared meals.

Reduce down the "bad" carbs and eat wholewheat carbs. This one will be the hardest for me.

One Cheat Meal a week

Be Accountable to myself. Keep this blog up to date and track calories with apps etc.

I haven't set a specific time-frame to be a certain weight by but I am hoping to average a 2lb loss a week to begin with!

OK well I guess that's it! Wish me luck and I will update this daily as much as possible!

Live long and prosper!

Thanks Tolsimir!

Day 1

Good start to the new routine. I kept track of all of my calories, although I didn't manage to get any exercise in due to the NYE celebrations taking their toll! :D

Day 2

Strong start to the day. Got up and went for a run. Totaled 5.76km although this was split between running and walking. Happy with how I felt whilst running considering how long off I have had from it. I was pleasantly surprised that i could follow the routine with no problems. Let's see how the muscles feel tomorrow tho!

Food wise I was going strong, made good choices throughout the day. However around 8 in the evening I got cravings and well I gave in. It's been a while since I felt hunger like that but I need to improve my will power to avoid the late evening snacks. This is usually where I have always struggled. I think it's because I get kinda bored and sitting watching a film the little thought pops into my head " Oh i Know i will eat that!". To beat this I am going through the kitchen cupboards tomorrow and donating all the not so healthy food and snacks to the local food bank.

Until next time. LLAP  :victorious:

Day 3 - 3/1/15

Yesterday was an ok day again. I had planned to walk over to my parents house which is roughly 1.5miles away but the rain was bad so I decided to drive it instead. I was shocked at the end of the day how many steps I managed in a whole day... around 900! Pathetic! Haha

Thankfully I made good food choices so stayed within my allowed total of calories. I revisited an old favorite recipe of mine - Homemade chicken nuggets! Its a pretty basic recipe but tastes hella good! Counting the calories is really making me think about what I am going to have. I had forgotten how little a suggested portion of oven chips is and the amount of calories attributed to it...

Day 4 - 4/1/15

Today I was back at work and boy did I not want to be there! :/ I woke up late so didn't have my usual breakfast instead i opted for a pack of dried fruit. Not the best but hey its progress. The morning flew by and some colleagues asked if I wanted to go out for lunch. I was strong and said I would join them but would not be ordering any food since I prepared a packed lunch. The main issue about eating out is how do you know how many calories you have eaten and I didn't want to waste my cheat meal for the week so quickly.

After that mini victory of being strict with myself and resisting the temptations of pub grub I was back at the office with lots of work to do. I ended up not finishing until half 8 in the evening today and well by the time i got home I couldnt face exercise. There was only one answer to my problems... BACON! I am hoping tomorrow is an easier day because I really want to go out running to help clear my head!

Until next time. LLAP   :victorious:

Haha! Thanks. I just realised i had the dates as last year! Oops

Day 5 - 5/1/16

Overall a pretty good day. I finished work at a decent time and managed a little resistance band workout. The food choices today overall where pretty good. Although i drank far too much bad stuff in the day. Totaled nearly 600 calories. Time to swap out the fizzy drinks for something much better.

Day 6 - 6/2/16

I had a moment of weakness today and enjoyed a doughnut! Ah well I felt so low on energy at lunchtime I had serious cravings and walked past a bakery and couldn't resist. At least I only had one and shared the rest around the office! Small victories I guess! I haven't exercised again today... I have to get up at ridiculous o clock tomorrow morning and have a full day of travel and hopefully lots of walking! think of the steps total!

Time for an early night! So LLAP  :victorious:

It's been a while but here's an update!

Day 7 - 7/1/16

This was an exceptionally long day. I was up at 5am to catch a flight over to Ireland for work. I had managed to do 4k steps before 8am! It was pretty much non-stop until 5pm. By this point I had only eaten 120 calories :/ This unfortunately led to bad food choices being made in the restaurant later that evening. Plus the company was paying so rude not to indulge a little.... :P

By the end of the day I had done a total of 13k+ steps! and still had a deficit despite the massive meal i had in the evening.

Day 8 - 8/1/16

This was another long day. Being in a hotel I had a pretty big breakfast by my standards. Cornflakes, sausage, bacon etc. Totalled 650 cals. I thoought this wasnt too too bad since i would probably miss lunch and be doing lots of walking again.

We finished work around 5pm again but had to wait until 9pm for the flight back. This meant another meal out. I wasn't too bad this time around but whilst waiting i did have a pint of beer in the airport! Finally made it home at midnight! Knackered!

Day 9 - 9/1/16

Saturday i decided to have a lay in but needed to head into work to catch up on a few bits to catch up on. Fairly good day food wise until the evening hit. Massive snack attack :(

Its like i have no self control at times :/

Day 10 - 10/1/16

Sunday was a pretty good day. I managed to fit in a run, stop and start it was almost 7km which i was pleasently surprised at!

and as sad as it may sound I made a spreadsheet to help me keep track of calories in vs calories out. It has a log for exercise and the number of steps i have done each day. I have also included a reward system, monetized it as such. If i hit targets (average steps, total weekly deficit, exercise sessions and weight loss in the week). If all targets are met I get a bonus prize! haha I hope that buy hitting all of these targets I should build habits and lose weight!

Until next time... LLAP  :victorious:
