Levana's Battle Log

I just signed up for my first challenge (see link in signature) so thought it would be a good idea to start a battle log.

It will mainly be used to track how each training session has gone so I can look back and reflect on what has worked and what hasn't. I am going to try a different style of training for the first 3 months and shift away from weight training in the gym to a mix of endurance and bodyweight exercises. I am aiming to attempt a few mud runs/obstacle races this year and the ability to push or lift my own body weight will certainly come in handy!

I am also a keen, albeit new mountain biker so will be making a note of any related training/achievements in here.

Additionally, I will keep a food log when/if I have time - but if I do not, I will also be keeping a picture food log on YouFood. My username is BananaPancakes if anyone wants to follow. The aim is to eat at a level 7 or above (i.e. legumes, fruits and nuts are allowed, ideally in moderation).

So, day 1 of challenge was quite fun! An achievement in itself.

I promised I'd post my workout schedule but I just got home from work and logging onto a laptop which contains said file that is required is effort - will attach it tomorrow.

Nonetheless here is a very brief outline:

Monday - lunchtime run (about 45 mins to 1 hour) - couple of laps of the nearby wood so about 5-6km to start off with.

Tuesday - Kettlebells training, 45 mins in the evening. If session is full, no excuses - go boxfit.

Wednesday - lunchtime run, or intervals / hill sprints (45 mins roughly)

Thursday - spin or jog in the morning followed by NF bodyweight workout

Friday - Rest day

Saturday - bootcamp AM

Sunday - Rest day

In addition to this I will strive to go for a 20 min walk 3 x per week mon-fri (office job means I don't move much on a weekday!)

Also, I mountain bike so there will be the occasional session worked in at the weekends - particularly as I am trying to do 1 x even more fun exercise session each week - mtb / hike / skating / yoga,etc :)

Today can be considered a success:

Went for a short run at lunch to get back into the swing of things - 4.6km in 32 minutes.

Food has been 100% paleo for the second day in a row so all good - although dinner portion was a tad on the large side (ahem...big steak!)

I also decided to go for a quick 30 mins ice skating session to end the day :)

Completed 1 hour of boxfit in the evening - well, just about made it out alive! Also went for a half hour walk at lunch.

Food was on track too - scrambled eggs and salad + a satsuma for brekkie, smoked mackerel salad for lunch, handful of cashew nuts and a banana before boxfit then baked whole cod served with roasted cauliflower, carrots & steamed broccoli :)

Update for yesterday: 3.3km run at lunch time, improved on pace from Monday. Diet was on track: 3 x scrambled eggs + a banana for brekkie, cod & egg salad for lunch and beef casserole for dinner

Today's update:

 

Exercise

 

45 minute spin session

30 minute lunchtime walk

 

Breakfast: 2 x poached eggs with a couple of rashers of bacon

 

Lunch: tuna salad with sweetcorn, baby spinach, chard, tomatoes and a drizzle of olive oil

 

Snack1 x Nakd Berry Delight 30g bar with a cuppa of elderberry tea. 

 

Dinner: venison curry - to be cooked when I get home from work. Basically just diced venison, bell peppers, tomatoes, celeriac, garlic, ginger, garam masala spices and coconut milk - all served on cauliflower rice

Exercise: 30 minute walk, rest day

Brunch - mushroom and red pepper omlette with avocado, tomato and spinach salad

Dinner-homemade burger patties (x2) in portobello mushroom bun with gherkins and a dollop of mayo. Sweet potato wedges and salad on the side

1 hour bootcamp in the morning

1.5 hour walk through the woods in the afternoon

Breakfast:

Coconut flour & whey powder "porridge with mashed banana, cinammon and a few flakes of almonds

Lunch:

Grilled salmon skewers and salsa salad

Dinner:

Lamb tagine with cauliflower "couscous", salsa salad and green beans
