Building a Better BS

I want to be a Well BS (BS is my initials...acquired when I got married and adopted as fully part of the lifestyle  :pirate:).

What I'm currently doing to work out can be found here: http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/77153-i-have-the-resourceshelp-me-use-them/

Basically, courtesy of Raincloak, I have a workout routine to stick to until I figure out what my goals are and tailor my routine more to that.  My goal for this week is to figure out a reward for after 20 workouts, goal for next week is to figure out what my next goal is!

Monday, Thursday, Sunday: Set a timer for 7 minutes, or queue two songs.  Jump rope until the time runs out.  Then do the yoga video.  Cool down and stretch for 7 minutes or 3 more songs before hitting the shower.

Tuesday, Friday: jump on the trampoline for 4 minutes, or one song (wave your arms to get them warmed up).  Do the kettlebell video, starting with the 10 lbs.  If the kettlebell seems too heavy or too light for a given exercise, use a dumbbell instead.  Cool down and stretch for 7 minutes before hitting the shower.

Foodwise, I'm angling towards Abel James' Wild Diet.  I've been working on cutting most of the grains, sugar, bad oils, and other crap out of my diet and including more veggies.  I can't focus on food quality just yet, but I'm working on it.

So, today: I did my workout, but learned that I can't jump rope straight for a minute, so I did what I could through one song, then did DDP Yoga's Energy, then walked to the mailbox and back (we live in the country - it's a lot over and across the street, but not terribly far).

Food plan for today:

B: fatty coffee

L: green smoothie, made after my shower and taken with me into town

D: Something involving chicken breast tenders, haven't decided what yet.

Part of the reason for the distinct lack of goals is depression & anxiety.  I'm at the point where I'm fighting back against it, but I'm a long way from winning.  One of the clearest signs of depression for me has always been a lack of thinking of what I could do in the future, a lack of dreams.  Therefore, for the moment, my goals are short-term until I kick depression in the butt hard enough that I can think of the future clearly.

Woop! I am a giant green smoothie fan--that's something I love to do now to eat healthier. As for the difficulty in setting distinct goals--as Steve would say, you're playing on Legendary difficulty, and taking it one step at a time is awesome. None of those things are easy to deal with, but taking steps forward is huge! :) We're all behind you!

I forgot that the trampoline is outside where it's cold, so I did jumping jacks instead.  I did them until my calves started complaining too much, then danced around until I could do more, then did more, and repeat.  I made it through the warmup and first circuit of the kettlebell video with the 10-lb kettlebell.  I took a longer-than-they-use-in-the-video break after the first circuit, I think I'm about halfway through the second circuit, and I'm stopping now before I end up throwing up.  The good thing about the video is, they put a 30-second break between each move, so I've gone through more water (maybe that's part of why I'm feeling nauseated and not exactly a good thing?).

I ended up eating sushi yesterday night since my husband was out of town (he's not fond of sushi).

Today's plan:

B: Fatty coffee

L: Sausage & salad

D: Chicken Tikka Masala over cauliflower - some of this may end up going with me to a friend's house tonight, since they'll probably order out pizza.  I need to do a quick shower and get to the store so I can get it in the crockpot.  I'm going to take my LaCroix "sodas" with me and NOT drink, which is kind of unheard of around this crowd, but they already know I'm weird.  Hmmm...I might should make me up a little thing of cheesecake or something to take with as well.

Huh.  So if I do jumping jacks until I can't, then dance around a bit, then do them again until I can't (which in all honesty is probably only about 20-30 seconds), does that count as HIIT?  :pirate:

Instead of doing a shower, I'm just wiping down, putting on clean clothes, and heading into town so I can get dinner started!  Also going to check out a new meat place and see if they can get me grass-fed bones for bone broth.

Today: rest day. Fatty coffee, green smoothie, and the chicken Tikka masala I didn't end up making yesterday, over steamed cauliflower if I make it back into town.

I'm a slacker when it comes to posting daily.

I have been working out most days.  I've actually gone a whole week of eating according to The Wild Diet (still ignoring food quality, as I think my husband would have a heart attack if I spent the money it requires to have grassfed beef and organic veggies).  I've gotten more sunlight (yay warmth), and my anxiety/depression is still lessening.

Sadly, the trampoline is now out of commission (the fabric holding the springs has started letting them fly!).  I'm doing 7-minute HIIT workouts most days, and randomly throwing in more when I feel like it.  The 7-minute workouts can pretty well exhaust me most days.

Abel James' Fat-Burning Tribe is doing a 30-day challenge on The Wild Diet.  My husband and I decided that if I make it through the 30 days with less than 4 meals that are way off-plan, I get a skirt that I've been drooling over for years.  The skirt in question?  A Macabi skirt.  Made for trekking, kayaking, fishing, and pretty much all outdoor and travel activities.  Lookie! http://www.macabiskirt.com/how-it-works

So far, I haven't had a meal that is way off-plan yet.  I may not have had enough veggies, and it may not have been perfectly on-plan, but I haven't eaten straight up crap.  I decided on 4 meals being the meter because that way, if I screw up once or twice, I don't decide to just drop it completely because I've already lost my "prize" (y'know, other than that whole healthy thing I'm working on).

So far, my fasting blood glucose had dropped to 105 (from 131) and I'm down 5 pounds.

Sunday morning, my fasting blood glucose was down to 105. For lunch, we had a flat-out off-plan meal. I had chili nachos and a big Dr. Pepper. For dinner, we had steak & some greens. FBG this morning? 120. My husband and I have been randomly talking about it, and I've told him that genetically, I'm shown to be at higher risk for Type 2 Diabetes. I think he'd forgotten when we've discussed my numbers before (the 120 is still lower than it was before we changed how we were eating), and he just looked at me puzzled and said that it's supposed to be under 100, and he figured he'd be the one who has issues with diabetes, not me. So yeah. My junior high days of eating snickerdoodles and a Sprite for breakfast and lunch are catching up with me.
