KarlJensen75
Hi there, new to these forums, I’m a social worker interested in doing a nursing program but of course am dreading having to deal with USDA dogma in nutrition classes, and I’m wondering about doing some foundational work in either biology or biochemistry to begin with or either in lieu of said nursing track. (Robb Wolf kindof suggests that.) Any advice/experiences is appreciated. Thank you. Quote Link to comment

I think you should do the classes that will get you the job you want, even if you don't agree with the contents. KarlJensen75
Thanks for the response! There is a small amount of nutrition, which would just need to be patiently endured, although i’ve read in plenty of forums about nurses having a really rough time being the odd person out in those situations, but nevertheless making it through and moving on. I’m just wondering about anyone’s experience with it, because it’s much more than just holding one’s tongue during the single nutrition class, it’s simply being in that context and knowing (or believing, anyway) that so much about what we “know” is wrong. And so possibly some supplemental biology or paleo-friendly classes (do they exist?) might be a good or better idea, again, as I’ve heard Robb Wolf suggest. I’m just not sure how to posit this question to, say, an academic advisor, who i’m (maybe incorrectly) guessing is not going to be sympathetic to or “get” why I would even care. So I thought i’d throw the idea out here. Thanks again. Quote Link to comment
