Good Livin'.

Recommended Posts

Been absent all week, due to life stuffs. Made a vague commitment a while back to do GoRuck Challenge. Over the last couple months, was 99.8% sure I wasn't going to do it.

Did.not.train. Not once. Not a single GoRuck workout, just my standard CF stuff.

Due to all that life stuff, I made the call on Wednesday night. Fuck it, I was gonna do the damn thing.

Stupid.

Well, from about 1am last night to 1pm this afternoon, I and my team engaged in a lotttttt of Good Livin', in the form of tree carrying, buddy carries for miles, indian sprints, bounding drills, pushups, bear crawls, a mini CF WOD, bear crawls, lunges for city blocks, flutter kicks in the shoreline, bear crawls, waded through the chest-deep swamp, chain pushups, regular pushups, more regular pushups, and staying ever alert for aicabs, which were declared out "hostiles", meaning we had to hit the ground whenever we saw one and neutralize it, generally by screaming "RATA TATA TATA TATA TAT!" |like a bunch of maniacs.

Oh, and some bear crawls.

All while wearing packs weighing about 50 pounds, which were not once allowed to touch the ground in 12 hours.

I was vastly, vastly, vastly undertrained. Physically I couldn't do it. Had to dig deep and put one foot in front of the other, however much it hurt.

But, as a team, we made it, because that's what GoRuck is. Never a race. Always a team effort. We finished with half of us buddycarrying the other half, as every GR Challenge ends. We didn't have a single person drop out.

So, my woot:

Certified GoRuck Tough. Hardest thing I've done. Ever.

This lil' patch, which has to be earned, was so worth it.

Thanks guys! I am still hurting a whole lot. Equal parts plain ol' deep soreness and actual mild injuries. Pretty sure I've never been this sore in my life.

All worth it.
