What's up :)

Hey, I'm Dan. I decided to join this place after continuously stumbling upon NerdFitness articles whilst surfing the web - looks like there's a good community of positive people here :)

So here's my story:

When I turned 17, I joined my local gym and started on the isolation machines (avoiding the free-weights because I didn't know what to do with them). After a year or so and no real noticeable results in my body or strength, I met a friend who took me under his wing and showed me how to perform barbell compound lifts - that along with increasing my caloric intake meant I put on a decent amount of muscle. This guy also introduced me to martial arts, something I'd wanted to try.

Now, I mainly lift weights to build functional strength that I can use in martial arts and run also for martial arts and for improvement in other sports I play casually.
