Spontaneity Woot!

[The Tin Man]

As it happened my girlfriend and her friend were (and still are) road trippin', and were in New Orleans from Wednesday to Sunday this past week. Wednesday night I decided to join them and booked a room and bought the next day booked the flight leaving Friday morning. This is a woot because I am not a spontaneous person. At all. Context: when I told my mother about the trip and how I was excited because I never do anything spontaneous she immediately agreed.

When your mother thinks you should be more impulsive, that's usually a sign to be more impulsive.

Anywho I ate delicious food. Including, but not limited to:

Wood-fired oyster roast

Pan fried crabcake & cucumber buttermilk with english peas

Smoked duck gumbo

Catfish courtbouillon

Smoked brisket with horseradish potato salad

Duck Pastrami Sliders

Pastrami Sandwich

Pork belly sandwich with mint & cucumber

Beignets (french doughnuts, basically fried dough)

Spicy sausage po' boy

Seafood gumbo

Jambalaya

Much of that was from two places featured by Anthony Bourdain (Cochon and Domilise's). Yum. Some was better than others. Smoked duck gumbo? Yumsauce. Pork belly sandwich? The pork belly was good but the cucumber and mint was an odd addition. The seafood gumbo and jambalaya were both from a pretty crappy restaurant so I still want to have them somewhere delicious.
