katpower
So I'm just re-entering the world of gyms, but with NF-knowledge, I'd like to give free weights a try rather than just use the machines.I'm a girl, with reasonable leg strength and meh arms, after all-over strength - would like an all-in-one routine, rather than a leg day, an arm day etc.Can any of you gym gods help me design a routine? notanartmajor
Look for a book called Starting Strength. It's one of the most common beginner programs, and they have a wiki with lots of information including the basic program itself. In a similar vein is Stronglifts 5x5, which is also a beginner program only everything is online and free right here. The advantage of getting the book over doing Stronglifts is that the book goes into great, great, great detail on the form of each movement and why it's important. It's a useful resource, but money is money.Either one of these programs can carry you past your newbie stage to the point where you need a more advanced program. Link to comment
