lathomas64
I found an interesting article about a concept the author called the 'workout singularity'http://liveharder.wordpress.com/2012/09/04/how-to-hit-the-workout-singularity/I was curious what you NF folks though of this concept and how to reach it. notanartmajor
I'd call it more of an Event Horizon rather than a Singularity, but I agree with the concept. There comes a point when you enjoy your exercise; the idea of breaking plateaus and improving your body is just fun, despite the difficulty or pain involved. Link to comment
Kishi
I'd say it's kind of a point that we all try to set ourselves up for. The new definition of fitness seems to be to A)find something you enjoy doing and B)doing the hell out of it, with the optional C)find other things that help you do (A) and do the hell out of them too. If you enter into something already enjoying it, it makes sense logically that you'll do it more as opposed to dreading it. Extra things like strength training or drills suddenly have an innate purpose - they help you do the thing that you like to do.All of that stuff, in other words, is an attempt to induce the singularity faster. So. /0.02 Work like a farmer, train like an athlete, fight like a soldier. 2 Tim. 2:3-6 BATTLE! Link to comment
alice-on
I totally get what that guy was saying. I didn't really read the pointers because I'm already heading towards my own "singularity", though I think I will need to find a better word for it. Something to do with Newtons law that an object in motion stays in motion (until acted on by another force, but that's usually if I catch a cold or need to study for a mid term, I'm not counting those). I new I could relate when he said he can't stand still on escalators. Working out gives me a purpose that is unique from my other daily task. There's clean, school, errands, but working out is this special time. It's for ME, truly, like none of the others, and I get from it all that I put in every time. Link to comment
