Long periods of time between meals

So I work with animals, and a lot of the time, there's no break until all the animal care is done. For example, I had breakfast at about 6:15 this morning, then lunch at 2 pm. No break in between for snacks or even to refill my water, really. I'm sure this isn't the best for me. What are some easy snacks that I can just carry with me that don't need refrigerated or anything like that? I could carry chips but we all know that's a bad option. :)

Thanks in advance!

http://www.larabarstore.com/ or www.stevesoriginal.com works for me as there are periods where I can't leave to go get food.

Actually.. do you really need snacks? There is quite some interesting stuff about intermittent fasting. With your kind of work schedule it might actually fit quite nicely if you are interested in it..

Take a look at those sites if so:

I do the intermitent fasting on days that I dont lift. I have dinner around 1800 (6pm) and then don't eat lunch until around 1130 or noon. I do take a 13g BCAA before all my workouts so I am not fasting on a totally empty stomach. Once I got past the initial OMG WTH are you doing that my stomach would give me, I haven't seemed to have too much problems. My average lunch and dinner comes in around 800 calories a piece meaning I am shaving about 250 a day off plus the work outs.

After reading the last article about Dr. Berardi, I am thinking of changing my 16/8 from 6pm to noon to noon to 6 am which allows me to work out and eat afterwards. Its also allows me to eat breakfast which since I don't prepare it allows me to count on having something good, and offers bacon and eggs. Sounds like a plan. Starting on Monday. Although I could do it tomorrow on my day off, but I would have to get up at 4 am. Since I have problems sleeping on Sunday nights because of the sleeping in, perhaps thats worth a shot too..hmmmm.

Thank you everyone for your advice! I get so hungry during the day because of the constant physical activity, so when lunch comes around, I'm eating everything I can get my hands on. Then I feel super gross. I'm definitely going to start carrying something around with me so I don't turn into a eating machine at lunch. :)
