curryfiend
So I am going for a day hike out in the Starved Rock State Park in Illinois. I am wondering what type of snacks to bring. Are protein bars better than fiber bars to keep up your energy? I don't get the difference... curryfiend
Hah, figured it out. One of those bars would not be a wise choice AT ALL. cline
Just MHO but I recommend more whole foods - jerky, nuts, apple. travel well, keep you fueled. I've seen little packets of nut butter popping up in the stores too. If it's not too hot and you need a fix, dark chocolate travels well too. I AM going the distance 'Cause all I wanna do is go the distance. Nobody's ever gone the distance with Creed, and if I can go that distance, you see, and that bell rings and I'm still standin', I'm gonna know for the first time in my life, see, that I weren't just another bum from the neighborhood. curryfiend
Very cool, I will definitely keep all of that in mind for my next hike.I guess it was really a dumb question. I just thought maybe it would've been better to have a bar snack as opposed to the things you mentioned. But, meh, kinda dumb. I wound up getting Luna protein bars which really did the trick, but next time I'll probably bring an apple and a bag of unsalted nuts. :] "Strength without determination means nothing...determination without strength is equally useless!" -Godo, FFVII NF Academy Profile Link to comment
