Welcome!

First of all i'd recommend to do some reading. Partly because its always good to know stuff and learn more but mostly because i think the topics of being healthy and in shape have lots of different opinions and points of view. So you just have to find out for yourself what you 'belive' and what does fit your style.

Honestly, almost everything will work if its at least a bit seriously designed AND if you keep at it with determination. You could try stuff like bodyweight exercises (e.g. http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2011/03/10/angry-birds-workout-plan/ or http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2012/08/23/batman-bodyweight-workout/ or http://bodyrock.tv) or go for beginner programs including free weights (starting strength (http://startingstrength.wikia.com/ and http://startingstrength.com/), stronglift 5x5 and the like..)

For eating you could take a look at paleo (http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2010/10/04/the-beginners-guide-to-the-paleo-diet/) or intermittent fasting (http://www.marksdailyapple.com/why-fast-part-six-choosing-a-method/ also http://www.marksdailyapple.com/health-benefits-of-intermittent-fasting/) also an interesting read is "In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto" by "Michael Pollan"

And ofc there are other interesting ways for both :)
