esteel
I just came about this great article by Mark Rippetoe: http://startingstrength.com/articles/blind_lead_rippetoe.pdfBasicly he makes the case that when 'the machines' (nautilus) hit the street in the 70s and the fitness industry became really large it had a totally bad effect on science research. Fitnesscoaches began telling people to do 'body parts' and noone really was stressed fully and just did not adapt much (grew stronger) because there was no need to. Researchers ofc once were students that got told that stuff und so slowly forget what great progress can be possible with the right programs and thus slowly everyone was told to do splitprograms and thats why those are the ones that are studied too and 'verified' by science..Kinda interesting to read.. Though Mark also mentions his hope that the surge in crossfit and 'old school' training might help with that in the future..
