Long time no post! and Batman: Arkham City question

Hey guys! Been a long time since I've shown pixels resembling my face around here, don't know if any of you remember me. It's a long story concerning why I disappeared, maybe I'll get into it one day.

Anyway, I've been playing a lot of Batman: Arkham City lately, and I'm stuck and need help. I'm trying to do the Demon Trials, where Batman meets up with Talia Whatsherface and drinks the demon blood or whatever. You have to do what is basically AR Training, but on crack, where you follow the blue trail that Ra's al Ghul leaves behind with gliding and diving. I got to the first podium, but I C-A-N-N-O-T get to the 2nd one without crashing into the sand dunes. I almost made it ONCE—even was able to grapple onto the platform—but then grazed the sand dunes and thus died.

I've tried no less than 40 times, and surely someone here has done this successfully. Any tips?
