Hi everyone,

I just discovered this forum and also nerdfitness.com today, and I'm happy to see that the forums are pumping :) By profession I'm a web developer and run my own company, and also very big on sports and keeping active. I live in Auckland New Zealand, but was born in Macedonia (Eastern Europe). My main sport and first love is karate which i've been practicing since 6 years old. I also really like MovNat. Hope I can contribute some useful posts.

Thanks for having me and see you guys around! :)

Aleks

Welcome!

Yes, the All Blacks are awesome. It's all about the haka. Well, OK, they're pretty BA also:

The New Zealand men's national rugby union team is called the All Blacks. Rugby union is regarded as New Zealand's national sport. They won the inaugural Rugby World Cup, are the leading points scorers of all time and the only international rugby team with a winning record against every test nation they have ever played. They have held the top ranking in the IRB World Rankings for longer than all other countries combined. In over 100 years, they have only been beaten in Test matches by seven international teams, out of the twenty they have played.

Hi Aleks!

Is karate your first/only martial art? I started my first/only martial art a couple years ago and I LOVE it! Mine is hoshinjutsu (a modern form of ninjutsu...think ninja)! In my dojo we have a guy who practiced karate. It was interesting to see how he moved compared to my sensei.

What do you like most about karate?

Thanks Alethea.

Hey maisigh,

Yeah, karate is the first one. The past couple of years I trained kickboxing as I felt I needed a change. I was missing my old club and training though, so this year I'm back into it. I like the uniforms the most :P (jokes) Well I like everything about it but if I had to choose one thing it would be the hard training, I enjoy that. Especially after a long days work, it's a good blow out. Helps me go home relaxed and half asleep :P But a big part of why I continue to train it is to do with habit and the fact that I can excel at it faster than other disciplines. If I had to start something from scratch these days I would love to do aikido or jiu jitsu.

Hoshinjutsu looks cool, it's awesome that you work with weapons too. In my old karate club we used to train weapon defenses too which was awesome. Nowadays I'm mostly focused on competitions so the training is totally different.

I know what you mean about the uniforms! I can't wear the tops because they just don't stay where I put them! That's what you get for moving around like a monkey though. The belt is worse, I never wear any kind of belt, so one that isn't held in place with belt loops is awful. I just end up wearing the dojo t-shirt and some black pants instead of the gi.

I love the training too, except I come home wired from a good ass kicking! hoshin is great and my sensei was telling me yesterday that when I get into the dans I'll have to

specialise in some weapons. That will be cool.
