rdwagner
I have a few questions, I was hoping you all might help with. 1) What is a burpee? 2) What is a pyramid (burpee, pushup pyramid)? 3) How do you type reps - Example: I do 10 push ups, wait a few seconds or do another exercise and then do 10 more. How would I type that? 10 x 2? 2 x 10? 4) Why is Peanut Butter called Peanut Butter Mothra? Quote Link to comment
MegaCarp
Okay, I think I'll let Spezz answer 1 and 2...She is the queen after all. #3.) Typically the notation is 2 x 10, for 2 sets of 10 reps. #4.) We have a very cool individual here named werwolf, (I prefer to call her Wolfy), but she has a slight LOVE/hate relationship with PB. She doesn't know why she likes it, but she can't get enough if the opportunity arises. This then lead to a discussion where one felt that this beast of burden would be best captured in a Mothra form. It just kind of stuck from there...I just wonder if that makes Wolfy Godzilla now, and if so...that's pretty fricken sweet. Quote Link to comment
Plex
#3) Really? I always did it backward then I guess (weight)x(reps)x(sets) ? Quote "She turned me into a newt!" "A newt?" "I got better..." Follow me on Twitter: http://twitter.com/NFPlex That's NFPlex. Link to comment
MegaCarp
Plex, I don't think there really is a 'right' way as long as you explain and understand the notation Quote Link to comment

spezzy
1) A burpee is the one exercise to rule them all. http://artofmanliness.com/2010/01/27/the-burpee-the-one-exercise-to-rule-them-all/ 2) First, this is just how I know the terms. Others may use them different.People use pyramid in a few different ways.a) Reps: starting with a lot of reps, decreasing them per set until you get to the 'top' (usually at 1), and then increasing them again to get back down to the same number you started. For example:Set 1: 10Set 2: 8Set 3: 6Set 4: 4Set 5: 2Set 6: 1Set 7: 2Set 8: 4Set 9: 6Set 10: 8Set 11: 10 You can also do this with weight.Set 1: 10 reps @ 100lbsSet 2: 8 reps @ 120lbsSet 3: 6 reps @ 140lbsSet 4: 4 reps @ 160lbsSet 5: 2 reps @ 180lbsOn these, some people go all the way back down the same way they came back up, other people will go back down to like, 120 or 100 and bang out a ton of reps. You'll hear people talking about ladders too. With a ladder, you go up (1,2,3,4,5) but don't come down.Reverse ladders start at say, 5 reps, and you work your way down to 1.3) How to type reps...The technical way is sets x reps. So 2 x 10.I write it out weight x reps x sets though. Purely because when I'm entering it into my phone, I write the weight, then the reps, and then if I do more than one set I add 'x2" 4) I can't help you out with Quote I'm no longer an active member here.
