smedly
Hey I'm Patrick from New Mexico and just recently stumbled upon nerd fitness. It definitely looks like a great site with lots of support. So far I have started eating healthier as well as trying some of the workouts from the the Nike Training center app in the app store. The workouts didn't look to hard at first but are actually quite challenging. I was wondering if anyone more experienced has used this or can look at it and give me your opinion of it. It is free in the app store. I'm proud to join the rebellion. Quote Semper Gumby-Always FlexiblePain is weakness leaving the body.FITOCRACY Link to comment
rdwagner
Hey smedly. Welcome! I pretty new here as well. I haven't played around with the Nike Training app. I'll tinker with it this weekend and see what it is all about. What kind of goals are you working on at the moment? Quote Link to comment
GymratAnarchist
Hey Patrick I just did a workout from the NTC app today. Some of them are butt-kickers, for sure. Depending on your goals I think it could be really useful. I wouldn't use any of the programs in it for muscle building, they're not made for that, but for a cardio routine (the "get lean" drills at the top), for sure. Alethea
Hiya Smedly! Welcome! Unfortunately I don't understand aps at all, so can't really check out yours. Can you post what you're doing and what your aims are? Do you do /want to do any activities that you'd like to get fitter for? Quote "Let another say. 'Perhaps the worst will not happen.' smedly
Basically my goals are just to improve my general fitness level all around. Right now I'm happy with being able to do 45 push ups and 12 pull ups but my cardio and legs aren't what they should be. I'm using the get lean section of the NTC App to just try and improve on this. Basically the workouts are 30-45 mins and are either circuit oriented or just constant exercising to keep up the heart rate with exercises such as lunges, squats, ab workouts, etc... Brometheus
Welcome to the rebellion! I'll take a look over the app and let you know what I think...and that's some pretty decent pushup pullup numbers. What's your diet look like? For me, that's been the biggest difference in getting new pr's and destroying all my preconceptions about what physically fit means. Quote Link to comment
smedly
Sorry for the delay in replying but I forgot about this post. My diet is about that of an average 18 year old. I'm 6'0" 165 lbs and in ok physical shape. I don't eat out alot or drink a ton of soda. (maybe one a week) The main problem in my diet is my job as a waiter. After we are done at night we have the left over food available for dinner for free and it is usually not the healthiest. I try to moderate at what I eat at work or just do small portions but usually I don't... Quote Semper Gumby-Always FlexiblePain is weakness leaving the body.FITOCRACY Link to comment

Crooked
Welcome to the Rebellion! What kind of restaurant do you work at? I worked at a Mexican restaurant where I got one free meal per night, and I always went for the biggest quesadilla, the one that didn't even fit on the plate. I realize now that I used the fact that I was working at the restaurant as a crutch to avoid cleaning up my diet — there may be other options for you if you're willing to try to make changes. I highly recommend coming up with a training plan of some sort (with the help of people on these boards). It will keep you on track and help you continue to make progress. You'll also have a better sense if your progress is stalling if you have a sense of your trajectory. Quote Comeback Challenge Link to comment
smedly
I work at a retirement homes dining room and therefore the food there is very rich and unhealthy. I try to avoid the most processed foods and have been better lately about eating fresh fruit there and drinking V8. As long as I'm actively aware of what I'm doing I eat healthier.
