Hello All,

Found this site through either Fat 2 Fit radio or SGU... can't recall. Anyhow, I flamed out after week 3 on the couch to 5k program earlier this year and have been looking for other approaches. I like what I see here so far and think I'll use it in combo from what I'm seeing at Fat 2 Fit as well. I want to lose 100 pounds! I lost about 50 last year but gained back about 1/2 of that this winter.

Hey Matt, welcome to the forums. 100 pounds was my initial goal as well so I definitely know where you're at (i'm currently at 90 lost in the past year and a couple months).

What kind of exercises are you doing currently? What are your eating habits like? I'm assuming you live in a colder climate since you've gained weight during winter (I'm in MN and I think everyone here puts on a few pounds during the cold months.)

hey, welcome!

what exactly is fat 2 fit?

100lbs is a lot, but you can TOTALLY do it.

(and moving this to the introductions forum, just fyi :) )

I walked all the time in the nicer weather and took the family to the pool 2-3 times per week. Still trying to walk this winter, mostly on the treadmill and I was working on couch to 5k for 3 weeks this year... back to mostly walking. I did my first circuit excercies based on the nerd fitness routine today. Fat 2 Fit is a podcast/website I found through the Skeptics Guide to the Galaxy podcast. I found Nerd Fitness through a Fat 2 Fit podcast. Basically, in the past I've fallen for every weight loss scam out there and am leary of everything that seems to good to be true. This resource and Fat 2 Fit both seem very evidence based which I like!

Welcome!

Aint nothing wrong with walking. If you walk a mile or run a mile, you'll burn around the same calories. The trick is to just stand up and move several hours a week!

Good call on adding some strength training to your weekly routine! Losing weight is a good aspiration, but it's even better to see yourself getting stronger and more capable. It's something to show for your hard work!
