firecracker*fit
Hello big scary internet world! i've been following nf for awhile now (i think i technically joined last may and then chickened out and never said anything) but i recently started working through the rebel strength guide (past the halfway point on the beginner workout) and decided to dive in head first! i've found that i can be pretty consistent w/ my workouts for the most part, but after a few weeks or so of healthy eating i have a tendency to freak out and go sugar crazy! just coming down off my most recent rampage and thinking i could probably use all the extra help i can get! i understand that paleo is pretty much nothing but super awesome for you, but i'm not quite ready for that leap. right now i'm just trying to focus on getting all of my fruits and veggies every day. as far as working out, after i finish up the beginner sequence, i want to move on to the barbell workouts. i'd love to be able to say that i could dead lift my body weight or some equally awesome statement. i really just need to get to a healthier place mentally and physically! Brometheus
Hello and welcome to the rebellion! Yeah, sugar is hard. It takes 3-10 days for me to get off sugar, and the slightest relapse sets in some serious cravings. Good luck with eating lots of fruits and veggies! Quote Link to comment

lwow
For the record, I was on here about 4 months with people telling me, "do paleo, it's awesome." I totally feel where you are now and have been saying for all that time that paleo sounds a little extreme and kinda hard, plus I love my sugar and my grains too much. However after getting stuck at a weight and getting sick of constant calorie counting, I was convinced to try going off just grains for a week to see how it went. This is now week 2 and I have gone about 90% paleo...kinda by accident, it doesn't feel like a huge effort and I don't feel like I need candy like I usually do.So welcome to the boards, but you aren't a total noob, so I challenge you to try just 7 days without grains and if you can manage it, refined sugar. It isn't a life altering event, it isn't that much effort really you can do anything for 7 days. But I think if you try it, it could help with the sugar rampages (been there, done that) Quote Link to comment

firecracker*fit
I've definitely been considering Paleo! right now i'm thinking i'll give it a try for a week or so in may when the boyfriend is out of town (so it's easier to just make food for me and not worry about creating separate meals and/or snacking on his pizza). i'll let you know how it goes!
