puddletheduck
I started lifting heavy on 1 May. My first goal was to be able to squat my bodyweight AND I JUST DID IT!!!!! I squatted with 72.5kg!!! And it was definitely parallel (I have an amazing knowledgeable friend who trains me so he checks my form.) I'm working on below-parallel and ATG squats for lower weights but I'm SO DAMN PROUD of doing a proper parallel bodyweight squat I have so much hysterical-adrenaline-excitement running around my body right now! I'm off to aerobics in an hour and I feel like I might grapevine-jump through the ceiling Since 1 May I've also got to 45kg on bench and 230kg on the leg press (I know the last one isn't such a good quality exercise but it's still nice to see the numbers go up). I'm struggling with starting deadlifts because my arms are really short, but I'll work my way up to them eventually. Woot!!! Guzzi
Wow, amazing!! That's fantastic I'm still working on getting a squat parallel without weight so I have serious squat envy! El Exorcisto
Strong work! If deadlifts are giving you fits then try going sumo style. You might like it better. puddletheduck
Thank you both Exorcisto: I think you're right about sumo style - I tried it briefly the other day and it seems like it'll be the way to go. With the normal position I can't get even get my back flat when I'm squatted down at the start of the lift, I have such silly little arms!
