Who is your inspiration?

Recommended Posts

Who do you look at for inspiration for your fitness goals, either someone you know personally or an athlete/celebrity?

My answer would be Adrian Peterson from the Minnesota Vikings. The mans drive and desire to be the best constantly inspires me to get up an move when I'm feeling lazy

Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica. Her body is exactly what I'm striving for - strong, powerful, and yet still feminine and not overly lean - the girl can obviously enjoy a beer or two now and then. Her personality and drive play a lot in to what I admire in her as well.

My childhood friend, 2 year college room mate and still to this day, one of my best friends. No idea how much he lost, but before and after, he ate good and exercised a whole lot, his only goal was lose weight. a lot of it.

Based on pictures, we concluded he lost about 150-180 pounds. He's 6'2", 180-190 pounds now.

It's not 80% diet, 20% exercise, it's 100% diet, 100% exercise. Give it your all.

Imaginary people tend to be inspirational to me.

I suppose if I were to pick people from the real world, Lindsey Stirling is pretty inspirational to me. She's no athlete, but she does what she wants with her life. She's free-spirited and plays good music.

The sort of music that I feel like I am. If that makes sense.

I don't really aim to be like anybody on an athletic scale (maybe because I live under a  rock and am new to the whole fitness thing).

I'm just impressed when I push myself to a new level, and eventually I want to have super powers. Obviously.

Very few people inspire me in a way that I moves me.

I feel the need to constantly be better than everyone around me.  Including me. Because the me of yesterday sucked.  Me of today will be better... the best. so- for me- no one- least not right now.

People- pushing- working hard- overcoming adversity- that inspires me- it's rarely a someone specific.

My now deceased father. He was a badass Marine, taught JROTC, was pretty solid and strong throughout my young childhood. I do what I do to give myself the knowledge that I am making him proud.

This is a really well made video for some inspiration, especially for anyone trying to recover from/get fit after an injury

That was a great video!  He reminds me a lot of Walter Payton, who happens to be one of my most inspiring people.

Other than that, not "big name" people.  Like one of my co-workers had three kids with CP.  The boy died last year.  He is an inspiration to me.  People like that.

Genghis Khan. He not only plundered nearly the entire known world, but 1/200 men are his descendants.

My thinspiration is still Martin Berkhan. Guy deadlifts in the 600's ripped to shreds, and if memory serves he only got into lifting so he could look better for modeling. He is stronger than, no offense, pretty much everyone on this whole forum and he only did it to get more Zoolander for some photo shoots so he could make money for being genetically better than others on camera.

That's some good stuff.

Haha, and I was afraid I'm weird because all my sources of inspiration are fictional people. Because Lin Beifong is a BAMF and I'm striving to become even half as awesome as her (and be as fit when I'm fifty :D).

I actually have a tabletop RPG character that has basically become my role model. She's actually a knight, but character sheet aside, she's more like a Paladin/Monk cross. Physically, she's amazingly fit, because she's worked towards that all her life; she's strong, but humble, fights till her last breath for things she believes in and never stops improving herself; and while she's intimidating, she's kind and polite and has perfect manners, but I'd like to see the dumbass who gets on her wrong side, because she will kick your ass from here to Sunday and not even break a sweat. Nowadays, whenever I feel like taking the easy way instead of the right way, I ask myself, what would she do?

My little brother, he pretty much stared down cancer, fought it valiantly... and though he ended up losing, he put up one hell of a fight. Always had a smile and held his head high...

They both train in the city where I go to school and they are both fantastic athletes, let alone fighters.
