So I found Steve's site and have been reading thoroughly through the archives.

 

I've always been a "contrary" personality, so I suppose it fits that I join a rebellion.

 

I'm 34, and in the Fire biz. In high school and college I lived for martial arts (Long Fist Kung Fu, and Kenpo, respectively), had many friends who were into martial arts, and who did stuff that was suspiciously like Parkour (running up walls and doing spinning kicks from them, etc). My two feet stayed planted firmly on the ground, and my eyes glowed green with envy. It's not that I've never been that coordinated, but I lacked the confidence to try.

 

Those heydays of youth i was in awesome shape, and I would like very much to be that fast, strong, etc again, or at least approaching it. I don't have 4 hrs a day to devote to martial arts anymore, but Steve's "Do something, DO ANYTHING," right here and now entries have got me convinced I can at least make the effort.

 

I have my "Starter Quest" (in EVE we call it the "New Player Experience" -- if you happen to play, say hi. I won't bite unless you're a Gewn or TEST type) all planned out. I would wait until the next one starts, and perhaps it's cheating a bit, but I need to get started -- after a couple weeks of "I'll start in September," I know well enough that I won't start in September.

 

So here's to the beginning, effective immediately.

It's very easy to put things off, and it's commendable when you don't. If you tell yourself you can do things tomorrow, nothing will get done today. Welcome to the rebellion, friend!

Very awesome that you are starting now! You are right. When someone says they'll do it tomorrow, tomorrow hardly ever happens
