Thin may be in, but fat is where it's at

1st Post - I picked up some extra lard when I quit smoking and a self defense line (see my topic title).  Currently eat vegetables,lean meats, but not getting the performance out of this because I eat other stuff as well (processed foods, sugar) and don't control my intake amounts of good but high calorie stuff (nuts,etc) and what I am learning are bad (grains).  No real exercise plan either, as much as I want to BS myself, mowing the lawn isn't really exercise.  I expect to learn and implement much about eating and exercise from Nerd Fitness.  Goal is to be in shape enough that I can get back to the Rockies for downhill skiing and be able to compete more effectively in USPSA.

Welcome! One thing that has really helped me is to make small changes over time. If you want mowing the lawn to be a good exercise then consider getting a push mower ;) I had(have) a really hard time with sugar and processed goods too. Got the processed goods out of my diet, but still working on eliminating sugar. It's a hard one imo. The tools are here though :) Good luck on your fitness journey!

You won't regret doing that workout, but you may regret not doing it. So get your butt in gear and get to it!
