Hello rebels!

Recommended Posts

About four weeks ago, I made the decision to start losing weight and getting fit. I quit all of my bad foods and drinks cold turkey, and have stuck it out for four weeks since. Also, I've just completed my third consecutive week on the Level 1 Rookie workout routine. It would be my fourth week but I pushed it too hard four weeks ago and could hardly walk for a week straight.

I'm 5'6", and when I began I was 230 pounds. This morning I weighed in at 219 pounds. So over 10 pounds lost, hopefully of fat, and hopefully a little more than that due to muscle gain.

I'm going to keep at it, but I'm still struggling with my form when working out. Squats are getting easier but I still have the feeling that I'm not doing them correctly. I still struggle with form on pushups, as well. Remembering to not put my hands too far above my head and consciously keeping my back straight are both constant struggles for me. I have a bad habit of hanging my head as well, which I understand is a no no. Overall, I feel like I'm just not pushing it hard enough during a workout. Hopefully that will have changed in another month.

All advice appreciated, and good luck to anyone else who is trying to change their life for the better.

Keep at it! In the past [when I was an athlete, hahaha] I was able to perfect my form more easily by practicing in a mirror. Perhaps if you can find a mirror to squat next to you will be able to catch yourself, you don't need to do it with weights, just watch yourself and correct yourself until you are consistently keeping good form. One of the biggest things that help me is to just keep my knees over my feet, the further forward the knees go the harder it is to maintain a healthy form.
Keep pushing,
